TASTE OF CARNAVAL FOOD PAVILION La comida served during Carnaval season samples the culture of many countries and serves up a colorful, rich, spicy and festive cuisine that tantalizes one’s senses. From the wild and barren climate of the north to the sultry heat of the south, these vast geographical regions offer a feast of flavors. The waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean teem with fish, while the tropical regions that adjourn them are abundant with fruit, such as pineapples, guayavas and papayas. Chiles of every shape, color and size are everywhere, their flavors ranging from subtle to smoky hot, provide the signature to one of the world’s most exciting cuisines. Food is a very important aspect of Carnaval’s way of life around the worldwide. Food preparation accounts for a large part of each day and wonderful dishes are created to mark the special celebration. The Taste of Carnaval Food Pavilion will host several cooking demonstrations! Many of the traditional dishes of Latin America and the Caribbean are labor-intensive, reflecting the old culture and society - a time when one worked all day to prepare the evening meal. Today, despite industrialization, throughout the Western Hemisphere many traditional meal patterns are still observed, especially in rural areas. The Taste of Carnaval Food Pavilion will showcase the best of Brazil, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico, New Orleans, Jamaica, El Salvador, Trinidad, Bolivia and Thailand. Set up to resemble a café with tables, chairs, waiters and entertainment, the pavilion will provide a pleasant spot to relax and enjoy the food of Carnaval.
