Well the other motive i can think of off the top of my head is so ppl like Dan Da Man more and book him more and do more parties with him.

But why dont I ask you all your motives in throwing free day parties (and losing money?) since your sittin right here and you know yourself better than I do heh

1) To support hardcore

2) Like you said, to promote myself

3) To offer a chill vibe and not try to make money off people

You weren't there were you? If you were you'd know how shitty the plur festival was.

while i get was you're saying dan....people are kind of making a big deal out of 5 dollars.

um...worst comes to worst....you just got a five dollar meal and got to meet new people?

true...a free day party is better, and i just experienced the best one ever down in san diego....but it was a fundraiser and for five bucks...i would not care if it sucked....cause i know my five dollars is (hopefully) going towards improving their next event.

anything to help the scene.

I have a friend down in SD who throws three free day parties throughout the summer.

pretty much looses 500-800 dollars for each one...even though they got 200 dollars in donations.

review thread:

that day party was more enjoyable then most raves.

there is another appreciation/review thread on another forum but whatev, this should do fine.

read through it...see the responses....if you're too lazy let me know and ill quote the responses over to here.

Throwing a free day party is more noble and good for the scene then a rave.

and they are amazing.
the vibe can be incredible.
you get much more diversity.
and it;s where the real 'plur' is at.

at least....when done correctly..like this one in SD.

Put yourself in other people's shoes for once. The world doesn't revolve around you. $5 may be a lot of money to some kids. Promoters that pull shit like this don't help other promoters doing it the hard way.

I understand charging for a rave that you actually spent thousands of dollars to throw, but a day party is supposed to be free.

Imagine if they tried to charge for a rengade?

What the fuck is the point then?

There's a thread on 4R about this party or just day parties in general?

it is a FUNDRAISER.

the point of which, is to raise money to make the next party better.
people give 20+ dollars to school organizations and other charities that they have no part of, yet don't gripe because they don't get anything back like a gift basket or music.

so...if i thought the crew was gonna put my money to good use, i would not really care how much i got back.

like i said...there was food right?
so whats different there then paying much more money going to a restaurant?
i haven't heard anyone say the food was bad.
so consider this...maybe ya'll expected the fundraiser to come with awesome music and a rave feel....but maybe it was only meant to be a fundraiser bbq or whatever.

get a job if you have to scrape together 5 bucks and it means that much to you.
or just don't go until you have more.

I gave out food too. And not just hot dogs, hamburgers and tacos as well. We brought out a brand new bbq and had Cloudskipper cook. He is a fucking grillmaster.

Also there are differences between the party they threw in socal and what we can get away with up here legally. Unfortunately we can't throw 10 hour day parties.

about this specific one.

I'm telling you....it was one of the best EDM/Rave/Day party i've been to other then how weird street faire(can;t really compare the two but whatev)....but they were close in how much fun i had...which is saying a lot since HWSF is my most favorite faire/edm event to date.

the person who throws them is Tony/Aphter/Dj Tiesto(lol seriously) with help from some other people.

For once....i was at an event that made me feel Socal > Norcal in terms of vibe and diversity.
