This member is the original thread starter. butterfly Where did all the negativity come from?

I'd like to address two issues I see continually popping up here. Just my opinion, people; don't hack me to pieces. 1) Narcs/undercovers. They are part of our scene (like it or not), just like the dj's & us ravers. They keep the parties safe for us, and I am glad they are there. Really, if you know how to handle your shit, you won't have any issues with them. I have even spent part of a rave chatting with an undercover; talking music & hobbies & stuff. Totally cool dude, and I know how to handle that situation. I have yet to have problems with undercovers, but I'm also there for the music, not to get completely stupid.

2) Shit talkers. The rave scene is based on PLUR; right? A bit naive and idealistic, yes; but that sense of happiness, originality, and unity is what most of us dig about raves. We rave because we can be ourselves and we know that our fellow ravers are always happy to see us. The more attention we pay to the haters, the more power we give them. Ignore them; they will go away. Nobody likes sour grapes, so these people will fade from the scene, and the people who perpetuate PLUR & good vibes will stay on and make the scene stronger. I know how irritating it is to have someone talk smack about you (I've had my share), but do they really matter? I don't think so....

Peace, people.

thank you. i agree with both your points. i was about to lay off ravelinks from all the negativity we've been having. raverprincess, i have heard cases where undercovers have been hassling people such as my friend Pink Poodle. Its at times hard to enjoy yourself if your being branded a seller because of the way you dress.
im glad someone finally addressed these issues.

Might as well get pissed off at the cops/ highway patrol for patroling the roads/street,when your just tryin to cruise around on a sunny day, theyre lookin for the drunks that kill people like you and me.....but too in retro spec they are there for protection , does that make any sense?

At the same time, being profiled/stalked isnt fun......allwell

dont listen to people that are negative towards you, dress and act however you want and dance your ass off infront of them showing that your having funn and not caring what they wanna judge you upon. I just think its funny how people judge you the way you dress or who you hang out with, its like your not proving anything about yourself or trying to impress your friends so shhh

On both topics:

If you do provocative things, you will provoke people.

On the "haters":

No matter how eloquent (or not) they are in expressing their opinions, be it negative or positive, it is their right to do so. There is some value in everything, even if it is just that you learned another person who should be ignored.

A world based on peace, love, unity and respect requires honesty and the free flow of information and expressions. Some people express themselves by talking crap on the internet. Others should learn to put up with the trolls, even engage if you feel the need, and find the value in what they're trying to say.

Well said...^^^

Some people and/or experiences are just meant as contrast to provide some perspective on your momentary position in the expanse of reality. If nothing ever agitated us, nothing would ever change.

Angry Re: Where did all the negativity come from?

well, i totally agree about the negativity thing but the narc were being completely judgemental. I took some friends that dont rave they are ghetto with tats and stuff. These narcs were on us the whole time. They followed us from room to room. It was awful to watch them stare my cousin up and down. And my cousin totally raver
its was completely rediculous. Gee, how many fights and problems do you see at raves? ME? NEVER seen one!!!

Well thats just my two cents but it completely killed my buzz!!
Right Delight???

I think your a little naive. All of the negativity is because of the federal goverment trying to outlaw raves. I don't know why nobody has questioned why their were police working security in conjuction with the spys on the floor. I am being literal when I say I saw atleast 100 agents harassing party goers. Would any self respecting promoter allow that sort of presence in their party and in their security staff? They would if they were under federal indictment under the Rave act. Under the rave act a promoter can be jailed for decades and fined many hundreds of thousands of dollars. So if you want to find out where all the negativity is coming from get on your computer and see if you can find some information on the RAVE act and find out how peoples lives are being ruined because the event they throw has techno music instead of rock and roll. There was never any laws made to stop the DEAD from touring. The Rave act specificly is targeted at events that have techno music, says promoters that have raves are equivalent to people who maintain crack houses and just playing a track that mentions any drugs makes them prosocutable.

Naive? No. Realistic. I never said this scene was fair. In fact I blogged that point on my myspace because it ISN"T fair! There is a huge double standard regarding the EDM scene. Until that changes we, the ravers, have to move around that blockade. I get labelled just like every other raver. I just prove them wrong. And the Rave Act... Yes, it sucks and unfairly targets our scene. I agree. But should promoters quit throwing parties because of that? Then "the man" wins. Sometimes you must bend to get what you want. Do your thing and ignore them. Be more responsible about yourself and your actions. Not "you" personally, you collectively. My best friend has problems with undercovers harassing him quite often. He just shrugs them off and goes about his night. Eventually they leave him alone.

alien Re: Where did all the negativity come from?

asking for full peace on ravelinks is like asking for peace on earth, it will never happen, but you can always block out the negative energy coming off those who put it out, i took a break from ravelinks because of the huge fights between people, but then i realized this is the ravelinks sf family, and every family has a black sheep or two right? just love them anyways, as long as they leave their negative energy on the boards and not at the raves right? For those of you who don't know me, you should get to know me!!! I love everybody and would like to meet them face to face!
