with Ruby Skye? hahha

i'm 18 and i really want to go clubbing and experience it for once. i don't need drugs or anything, no alcohol either. i just want to dance there.

anyone got the hookups with getting into ruby skye?

hehehe a lil off topic from the rave scene. hehe, not saying i don't love the underground ones. i just want to try a club for once

and i dont wanna waste money on a fake when its not too long till im 21.

There are 18+ clubs in the city but if you're talking about House/Trance clubs yeah ruby skye is the only one.

1015 can be good for house and trance too, I saw Ronski Speed last month there and Paul van Dyk the ninth. It's a totally different crowd from Ruby, really. There's five rooms, with different DJS in each. I'd say it's a little more in tune with the rave scene. The only bad thing is I know some DJs won't play there anymore (like Above and Beyond) because there are fights on the floor and the mixer quality is apparently whack.

As for Ruby Skye, it's TOTALLY different from a rave. There's a dress code that the bouncers WILL enforce, but how strict they are depends on if you piss them off or not. Still, I'd say dress to impress for sure. You'll go there and there will be a lot of people who can apparently afford a $30 cover "just for the hell of it" who go there just because of its scene and def. not for the music. For example I saw Hernan Cattaneo there the day after my birthday this year and was practically drooling. So I turn to the guy next to me and I am like "Aren't you SO STOKED ON HERNAN?" and he was like... "who? I'm just here for the girls."

BUT that said, it's really beautiful inside and if it's a DJ you REALLY want to see it's totally worth the cover charge (plus presale is almost always $15). You can see the decks and the DJ super well from everywhere on the floor and there's a separate inside smoking parlor with its own DJ (hip-hop usually) so if you're not into having someone's butt in your face while you dance it's a good thing for sure and if you're a smoker you won't get harassed by people on the street.

I'd say only try to get in and go there if it's a big DJ that you really want to see 'cause I've been there on nights when it's REALLY slow and not so much fun.

As far as getting in under 21, unfortunately I'm not connected for that but I will keep my eyes open for the RL kids just in case!

It's at 420 Mason St. just off Union Square

and it's usually $20 at the door if you get there earlier enough though if it's packed they'll jack up the price. So presale is the way to go
