happy hardcore Re: What makes a raver a raver?

"Raver is a word that has been used since the 1960s to describe people who are enthusiastic attendees of parties. The term is most common in the UK and the Dirty Dotas.

The popularity of the term has ebbed and flowed in reflection of the constant changes in youth cultures in each decade. The meaning has also altered slightly as different youth cultures have adapted the word (and related words) to suit their milieu and lifestyles.

In its original 1960s incarnation the word was a synonym for the American slang term “party animal” – a gregarious fun-loving individual. In its second incarnation (from the 1980s onwards) the word has come to mean anyone who attends extended night-time music events known as “raves”. In the post-1980s meaning – the essence of the word relates primarily to the type of events the person attends rather than to the personality of the individual."

wikipeadia. man im bored. i was gunna say there is no set defination becuase anyone can be a raver as ive seen all types of people at parties.but i like this defination..... a gregarious fun-loving individual. i think that due to the vast variety of ravers that it is way to broad to generalize anything too much.

That's the recipe for a kandi kid.

Not all ravers are all PLUR-like. This doesn't mean they're unplur and mean, it just means they aren't all happy happy joy joy.

Pretty much, ravers are people who attend raves (no shit), and actually contribute something to the scene. People who are welcoming, energetic, those who bring good vibes.. That's a raver. Not those shady fucks who are there to make money and rip people off, or who don't dance because they think everyone else looks stupid.

I concur.

To be a raver, just go to raves. While at the rave, meet new people, make new friends, act stupid and crazy (if you wanna), do things you wouldn't do normally. I wouldn't normally get on top of a platform and dance with some random girl I don't know, but at a rave I will.

Ravers are to raves what partiers are to parties. And yes, a party and a rave are completely different.

Raver is willing to do silly things that they wouldn't normally do and let go of everyday restraints from FUN!
They should also be willing to make new friends!

Plus they should dance dance dance like no other.

Just because someone goes to a rave doesn't necessarly make them a raver though...

Obviously. But if you go to raves on a somewhat constant basis you could definitely be considered a raver.

Also, people that realize P.L.U.R.R. isn't just drug induced are partially what I consider a raver, but that's just my opinion

Hope to see you all on the dance floor at Duffman!
