Curfew laws for many areas are 11 on weeknights and 12 on weekend nights for children under 17. Therefore, if a rave goes past those times (which it's fair to say pretty much every rave will), then people under 17 should not be allowed in, because that's breaking the law! XD Well, the laws are in place for a good reason, so they should just be used to ENFORCE that there shouldn't be ravers under 17.
Promoters most likely advertise for those ages because it makes more money for them. Also, some people at that age CAN handle raves and would be able to come, and would feel left out otherwise. Also, there are some better lit, drug-free enforced, secure 'raves' that younger people can go to for a safer environment. These are harder to find and much more rare, but good fun for the people involved. I'm not 17 yet and I plan to just attend these until I'm a bit older. (By the way, sorry for joining the discussion since I'm not "of age", I just found it really interesting and I agree with what most people are saying) |

While we generally agree, I have to address the fact that you believe there are secure "drug free enforced" raves out there.
They may SAY that, but I don't think I have ever seen one enforce their drug free rules with the exception of busting people smoking pot. |

The ones I have attended are at anime conventions, so most of the people who go aren't hardcore ravers, just people looking to dance and have fun.
So the atmosphere is pretty chill and safe, and well-lit. No one really does any drugs there except for... well, druggies. And they keep themselves to themselves. The best bet for a safer environment would be at a place where the rave isn't THE event, it's simply part of it. It also means that if you want to leave and go do something else, you just walk right out of the doors and there are tons of other stuff to do. I haven't gone to any other drug free raves, but yeah... I wouldn't be shocked or anything if you were right. XD |

XD I just think people ought to know their limits and what's safe and what's not.
I really don't think normal raves are really safe for younger people anyways, even if they are ready. Anything I do for the first time I do with caution and planning and/or in a safe environment. I'm not a "goody-two-shoes", I just don't need to get myself or anyone I care about in trouble or in a bad situation. It's when people don't think of the consequences that things go bad... and that's what most younger people lack. |

at 16, kids know if they're straight or gay. if you're bi, you might still be working out the kinks.
at 16, you have developed reasoning skills and are physically [for girls] full grown. at 16, in britain you're considered an adult. in the US, you can be emancipated [granted, some states are younger, 14.] though everyone is different, if i really had to hammer down a "rave age limit" i would say 16. i have friends that at 14 and rave and do hardcore drugs, and whatever, it doesn't seem so strange when you know them. but the more i get to know them, i actually still think 16 would be best. cuz their whole view on the world is skewed because of the young age they started talking mind altering substances. at 16 also like. you should know how to say no, and defend yourself. you know the consequences of how you dress and are less likely to dress in panties and a lacy bra without being ready for the reaction you're gonna get. i mean, not that 16 year olds should do that either. but whatev, at least then, it was a conscious decision. okay. i'm done. -bunnnny. |

18 all the way, more mature and responsible at that age. also a persons body is more matured so that drug use would be less harmful.lastly I wouldn't want to be held responsible for anything a minor may do.
sorry kids, u should wait or bring a parent-gaurdian to keep ass out of trouble |

I started raving when I was 18, but I was into the scene and music since I was 15 (but my older raver friends wouldnt take me, haha). Anyways, the acceptable age is definitely something I have pondered about. I'm currently 19 and I've been raving regularly this year and well, I feel kinda old with the ppl I party with (most of them are 18 and younger). The youngest person I met was 14, and although she's sweet and mature it just bothers me that the kids I babysit are only 2-3yrs younger than her, gah!! Just imagine, in about 3yrs, and with the rave still being awesome, I might just bump into the kids I babysit. Can u say AH! I prefer 18+, its only fair

i didnt read anyones responces to this post
but i think 16 is a good age its young but not too young. it all depends on maturity tho i kow some 16 year old who act like they're way older.. and then i know some who act like they're 12. so you can't really put an age on it this kind of ties into what i have suggested earlier... which is that the older crowd need to teach the younger croud how to rave.. they don't kow what they're doing when they first start. they don't even know what its about.. so you guys need to teach them. however... i'm not 18 yet [ i will be in 2 weeks] i have been to 18+ parties. and more underground parties.. which attract the older crowd.. and i can say that i enjoy those parties a little better then the ravey raves... minus the fact that all my friends dont go to the underground parties.. |
