Hey, so I've only been in the scene since like May so I don't know a whole lot, so could someone tell me about the whole "crew" process? Like who is the crew and the promoters? Do they have a day job or is it possible to make a career out of raving?
All the raves I've been to have been pretty epic so it seems like a LOT of work goes into it and I'm curious about how it happens. Thanks! Hope to see some of you at the day party on sat. plur ![]() ![]() |

Why not find out for yourself?
Find a crew you like, stay till the end and offer to help take down. Offer to help with their next party. Your journey starts there. And no, aside from old school (defunct) promoters like coolworld, or club promoters, I think everyone has a day job. |

This question has endless answers. I own a production company (Tri-Atom) with some friends of mine. All of us have a day job. A lot of heart and soul goes into this. We all sacrifice our personal lives in order to make parties happen. You have to get a crew together than works well with the least amount of drama possible ( and there will always be crew drama), find venues, make flyers, find talent, network with other promoters, get DJ's under your crew, make decorations. get lighting together, promote promote promote!, keep up a myspace, and keep a cool head because things get stressful! I don't think that any one fully understands the ammount of work and heart needed to pull parties off until they are on a crew. Some times on high stress days you wonder why you are doing this, but once your party is over and you know you gave people a safe and awesome time you remember why you throw them! ![]() |

What goes into throwing a party????
A lot of dedication. I joined Acidtotem two years ago and its the best crew I have been apart of. My fellow crew members and I all have daily jobs but we stay passionate about our music and about expressing that music to others by throwing free parties. Its not about money or fame or ego. I joined just by going to the parties meeting the original crew members and helping them out. I played at one party and then after that went on to become part of the crew. I went on to throw all of last years parties with just one other crew member except for last years anniversary party and also recommended almost all of the newer crew members we have added this year. I might add we are looking to fill one more spot in the crew but it really is hard to find people that show as much passion as we do. Music is the soundtrack of our lives. We've got to play it loud to feel alright. |

acid totem has a great rep. Ben is a cool guy. Cool crew for an aspiring crew member to join.
Good luck on the campout. |

Yeah, everyone in the crew is super chill and without any pretentions, glad to say I am a part of that. It is a lot of thankless work sometimes (carrying an 80lb. speaker a 1/4 mile up a steep hill after not sleeping for 24hours is not glamorous to say the least) but when it goes off great and people have a good time, it's all good.
