WEED: Not a drug, But a culture...

So I flew back up to SF today around noon, Got to my dorm at 2 20, bike up to Golden gate park/hippie hill, and got there around 3 PM.

First thing i see are people flying kits, playing soccer, running around, and the beautiful sky up above on a perfect day.

Then I see hippie hill:

As i walk towards the center where the drum circle/musical stuff was going on:

(It got much more intense and groovy later)

I got to meet-up quickly with friends from Petaluma all the way down to friends from SJ....and from then on i was going around....running into random friends, meeting new people, smoking a bunch, dancing to the drums, smokin people out, taking pictures, etc....

THEN....I hear some Electro house....
lo and behold, a short walk from the top of the hill to the other side of the road, was another grass section with a DJ tent and some nice equipment.

Tons of ravers. More weed. more diversity of drugs. awesome people. great, GREAT beats.

THEN, at 420...on 420....on hippie hill....the crowd went crazy. Everyones hands went up, we all shouted, the drum circle got hella intense, the horns blasted, and people BLAAAAAZZZZZEEEEDDDD

So I look around....I see all this loveliness. More PLURR than a rave, more peace than any bar, more love than any date, more unity than any outsing, more respect than any work/school setting...and way more responsible than alcohol or tobacco.

This "drug" does WHAT that makes it illegal?

brings people together? makes them happier? unites us as one and makes us see that the differences should not separate ourselves from one another? brings about song and dance and musical creativity? makes us hungry?

WHY THE FUCK WOULD IT NEED TO BE ILLEGAL!?!?!?

screw the scientific data, the chemical results, the political bureaucracy, the history, the negatives, the positives, the medical side, etc...

We all know why it IS illegal and why it shouldn't be. We've had those discussions and have our opinions for our own reasons....

But this is the best. The fact that it brings more positives out than it does negatives. and the majority of the negatives are due to it BEING illegal or not having educational classes/programs regarding its usage. Any politician that actually knows marijuana culture would support legalization if it were not for their reputation being damaged. Any politician that believes wholeheartedly that it should be illegalized completely...is a close minded, ignorant bastard with illusions of superiority and biased leadership.

EDIT: So i have amazing video of exactly 420 on 420....but its not uploading right or i dont have the file in the correct format.
i also have one of the edm area. grrrrr. ill try again throughout the night.

Yeah that's a pretty impressive cloud.

Weeed doesn't do anything that makes it illegal besides resembling and being a relative of HEMP... the real solution to saving the planet....... a better fuel from biomass, a better paper, a better canvas, a better paint, a better pair of sandals, you get the point... a better tomorrow.

While I do agree that weed isn't this horrible horrible drug that the government cracks it up to be, remember that there are reasons for why they choose to make it ilegal.

Remember that for every person who can go about their day completely normal when high as fuck, there's another person like me.

I am either allergic to weed, or it's the fact that I did shrooms back in the day. For whatever reason whenever I smoke, I end up mildly hallucinating. With enough weed, I'll actually lose the ability to really control my movements, or at least my motor skills. It's not to the point where I'll see pink elephants flying around or some shit, but just things move, melt, warp. For that reason I don't drive when I'm high anymore unless it's an absolute must.

So I'm not going to debate why it should or shouldn't be illegal. I do think that in my case alone that even if it was legal, I'd still be 100% sober unless I had a couple hours to kill and didn't have to drive (not to mention that I only smoke twice a week at most, otherwise I wake up with hang overs and feel gross 24/7).
