"A glow stick in the hands of an unruly raver can be a dangerous thing."
i think if u look at this sentence, hes really talkin about the wannabe ravers who doesn't know how to use a glowsticks and that his party is gonna be 1 of those non rave kinda thing so most likely theres gonna be non raves and he doesn't want THEM to have glowsticks. soo... maybe he has an explanation for all this u know? cuz reading over and over again it seems like hes referring this to non ravers?? |

common...that's not true, tiesto does have some nice tunes guys...and plus, at any rollcall thread how many times have you read:
OH DJ SO AND SO IS THERE? HOLY SHIT I DIDNT KNOW, IM GOING FOR SURE NOW!!!! and i think that's fairly legitimate, those popular dj's are popular because they have good music, and good music=fun. I can't have fun in a rave or rafe, or club or w/e the fuck it is nowadays without having good music. when a dj sucks ass i want to fucking cuss him out to get the fuck off, or bang my head against the wall. Ah yeah Europeans do plenty of drugs haha, but not kids, by kids i mean 15-18. Also the culture is different, Tiesto is a european dj, they usually at popular club venues, before i knew that this music was called trance, or huose, or whatever the fuck we call it nowadays it was just known to me as club music, because that's what they play at clubs... but i love the comic strips, gave me a great laugh! |

First off Tiesto came up playing progue house is how he got his start in clubs not hardcore. Second some people just seem to be bashing trance. Trance is the number one form of music as far as EDm so deal with it. You cant say its ruining raving when its what brings most of the world to it. Tiesto would not be where he is today unless he was an amazing DJ. He may be a sell out but he knows what the hell he is doing. He regularly has raves of 50k+ in europe so obviously most people dont feel this way. Tiesto also gets a lot of people into raving and the music Tiesto and Ferry Corsten were the DJs that got me into rave music. You can call Tiesto a sell out but im sorry hes better than any DJs you might come up with as seening by his record sales and the amount of people who want to see him.

I want to become a cop so I can go to a fourth of july party and arrest all those drugged up kids playing with glow sticks.
And the hijacked Jack Chick tract was awesome. |

That's right. Hardcore will always be the truest rave music.
![]() Just goes to show you what a sell out he is and what Trance Magic does to some people!! There are some still keeping trance real.. not many. |

That comic strip was fucking amazing.
I am currently starting the pre production phases of an epic mockumentary. But I will always love trance. |

I probably agree with about half that comic. Worshipping the DJ does seem pretty silly when you think about it, the party should recognize everyone there equally in their capacity to have fun. On the other hand, it goes without saying that people are going to at least respect in some way a DJ's skills to beatmatch, throw down the right songs at the right times, and, above all, play their own music. Some do work hard to achieve that after all.
Tiesto may be mediocre when it comes to DJing skills (I actually don't know). But you can't deny the guy has put out some great tracks. "Adiago for Strings" is a great song, I really don't know what this "Ish" guy is smoking there. He seems to be hating on trance in general because 1) It's become mainstream and 2) it's too "structured" and "bland" (whatever the fuck that means). Trance is legit rave music just as much as is hardcore or DnB, or any edm a party feels like hosting. I think this is yet again another arguement about the definition of raves. The comic seems to target massives, and I think a lot of people agree, a rave does not equal a massive. I can see why old school people might get upset about this. The scene they started and created has gone semi-mainstream, converted from the "chaos" and free-spiritedness to a cookie-cutter party. I think people just need to realize something. When a scene becomes popular enough, when it starts to become mainstream, it's roots will be forgotten and become bastardized. It just comes with the territory as more people from different backgrounds join in and realize there's money to be made. This shouldn't stop you from throwing a "true rave." Yeah, it sucks, the term "rave" is thrown around a lot nowadays to mean pretty much any party that plays any kind of techno. But on the flip-side, the starters of this great, great scene should take pride in knowing that, despite the casualities of going mainstream, the fact that the music itself has become loved by millions and millions says something. You have truly created something great that will go on for decades, in one form or another. So anyways, this post has gone Klover-status, but I just wanted to put that out there. I used to worship Tiesto just as much as the next guy when I first started getting into trance. Now that I've experienced so many other artists and genres, I've come to realize that, yes, Tiesto is just another DJ. He's pretty talented in some ways, but like the scene, he's gone mainstream, for better or for worse. You can hate him for all kinds of reasons, but you can at least recognize that he's made SOME good songs. Just because everyone loves him doesn't mean you shouldn't be honest about that. |
