This member is the original thread starter. vocal Things I have noticed from the Rave Scene

I've gone to about 5 raves during the last 8 months, all S.F./ Oak. based and have to say they are the greatest and worst things around for teens. The energy and attitude is great and all, but the promoters are getting millions in cash because kids are getting fucked up and spending about -50-80 dollars every rave. Some ravers go every weekend and many of them led to various drug addictions. Aside from this, the rave scene still is similar to the chillest party you have ever been at but times that by 100 and you get a rave. Basically their is no social gathering like it, its one of a kind. I love the rave scene for its music, drugs, DJ's, people, but also hate it for its drugs, money, and promoters who in the end don't give a fuck if young people screw up their life.

P.S.-Party monster last week, pretty fuckin sic, i liked the city vibes alot, gave tons of lightshows and hope to see all you ravers pretty soon.

I'm just going to say one thing:

If you think the promoters are getting 'millions in cash', you are well, completely absolutly wrong. haha

I can only think of one crew that consistantly makes alot of money for having overpriced tickets with minimal production that doesn't pay half thier talents.

Everyone else: lucky to break even half the time.

Let's go through a list of things the promoter has to pay for:

Venue
Djs
Sound system
Light system
Cleaning up
Paying to have the Djs flown over (if international)
Paying accomodation for said internationals
Pay for security
Buy permits off the police to make it legal (More above ground ones, though some undergrounds do)

Already that's a fuck load of money to pay for. And I'm sure I'm not even halfway through it.
I hate to say this but, Kurrupt, your completely right. Hes right.

Now to be angry.Dude don't generalize man, its not cool. I know LOTS! of promoters who are great people, in it for the love of the music, people and parties. Yea there are drugs, There are drugs at punk shows, hip hop clubs everywhere. There are drugs at catholic middle schools (I know i used to be at one!) All the promoters I know personally are great people and would feel sick to their stomachs if they directly had some effect on a child, or anyone for that matter fucking up their life.

Lastly, promoters are just that, promoters they throw the party, not a lot of them fucking hire drug dealers you idiot. Dealers go there to get the money, the promoter has no control over who reads the fuckin flier! SO DO NOT! GENERALIZE ANYONE! Especially promotors, 'cus without them where the fuck would you or me be? Hmm? You wanna throw a massive? You got the cash? The connections? If you do then i expect a huge party within the next two months from you.

To some extent he's right - a lot of promoters dont police the parties for things like drugs. But really, should they have too? Raves, because they dont have strict rules, often put responsibility on the individual. If you take a bunch of drugs and spend all your money, that is your problem.

You should know your limits, know whats appropriate to do in public, and behave in a respectful manner. If you can not do these things, you shouldn't be out partying with the people who can.

I don't know much about how much money promoters have to spend on each party, but i do kinda get what was meant by hella young kids going and gettting fucked up and spending hella money. The choice to do any drug is always the choice of the person doing it, no one shoves it down their throats so it's techniclly their responsibility, altho it is sad to young 15 16 and 17 years olds, i know i am one, gettting so fucked up that they can't move or talk, just cuz it's so commonly accepted. altho again there is always a second side of it, a rave is one of the only places where drugs are so commonly accepted and that is another big part of what makes is so awsome. i still have no idea how much any promoter makes or doesn't make, but i do have to admit after tickets, water, drugs is you choose to take them, and all the other random ass expenses that add up, it can be kinda expensive for just one rave

it's all about the individual's choices & not the raves.
and promoters make little to nothing, & sometimes they lose money.
i wouldn't generalize like that.

I don't pick on newbies at all, I just request that if you get a lightshow or back massage you do it against the wall & not on the dancefloor. If not, I will ask you to please move or step on you. haha. Thanks!
