I think the uprise in renegades is the Bay Area's answer to all the parties that have been broken up lately. The Bay Area has always been known for its underground parties, but I think that theyre more known now, and thats why renegades have become more popular.
If you notice, there are still the underground and flier parties, but a lot of them end at 2, have to be "secure venues" or theyre broken up 30 minutes into getting there.
I think a question would be: "How do we stop undergrounds from being busted?"
For now, we rock the renegades because its almost the only way we can rave till the early hours.
The whole scene is in a flux, and it will be interesting to see where its headed this year.

And the fact is also that renegades were how it all started, commercial raves are a more recent development than outlaw shit. I grew up on renegade parties and have been to at least twice as many renegades as commercial raves, massives, or micro massives.

I love being able to do stuff indoors but the problem is always that it costs thousands of dollars, people pay out the ass for them just to get in, and then there is no guarantee that it'll all come off like it's supposed to. Renegades, on the other hand, cost a couple hundred bucks, can be free or donation based, have just as good music, the expectations are just different from party goers, and they are an adventure too.

Here's my challenge to you Kurlie, or anyone really, look into permits and spaces and if you can work those two things out, I'll take care of the rest and make it a free party.

But there is so much less at stake with a renegade.

hahaha yea, dont get me wrong, i LOVE renengades, they are hella fun plus, its fun driving to them and finding them, thats the fun part to me haha, but the commercial raves are just as fun to me, i dunno they both are good in my view cause i get to go and listen to some good music and dance to it all night, doest matter what time it ends, as long as i get to dance some time and just be with friends

yeah, not really better or worse, just different...though I must say I always meet more people at renegades. In the end I like them both as well.

Yeah i know what everyone is thinking... these parties are fun and all but they'r starting to get redunant and thats whats truely happening. do the same thing over to many times... its gets played out. right now this is starting to become a really bad season for outdoor parties anyways. since now the rain is supposed to come and its now freazing outdoors. last year around this time it rained for 28 days straight, so i'm pretty sure it'll get that bad again this year.

don't worry, i'm looking at the promoters calender and its looking pretty locked up starting with Luck of the Irish. theres alot of BIGG shows coming this summer. I MEAN HUGE!!!

fock ya, I love renegades, yes they are different, but i will say, I have never felt more happiness than when dancing in a warehouse with 1000 ravers all bouncing to the beat, so much energy, so much vibe, it's amazing, and the last party's I went too like that was dots 2 and space girls, thanks vito

i really dont mind partys ending at 2am just get there early.. but yeah i miss indoors... nice and warm and theres security. These renegade, yah there free and no security but since its outdoor you might sumtimes get the wrong crowd. Espcially depending where the party is located!
