This member is the original thread starter. hardcore the scene outside of the bay

So I've heard that the rave scene outside of the bay area is way different than here, but I can't find any info on it. I've heard that back east it's a lot less plur and a lot more violent, and that in SoCal it's a lot more club.
I would dig it if people would share what they have heard/experienced.

well letsee......Eastcoast has a great club scene (especially NY), but not too sure about the underground stuff as much. People there really love the music and are pretty knowledgeable of most of the tracks that DJs play, but with that comes being a lil stuck up to the people who dont and are just going because clubbing is a trendy thing to do. We get that here in the bay a little too, but not as much.

I've heard alot about the scene down in Texas as well. Apparently raves a few years ago (03-04ish) in the San Antonio area had alot of great glowstringer/poi kids, and eventually the raves just turned into a big stage for competitions and crew battles. With the battles came alot of hostility & violence with all these crews dissing eachother and claiming to be better (thus, totally killing the PLURR). Parties got shut down because fights broke out, and all that did was attract police attention. Yes thats right, people fighting over silly glowing tubes of plastic. One of the reasons why glowstick battles or competitions are extremely looked down upon by the majority of the glowsticking community.

Other than those two places, dont really know much about anywhere else. Norcal has been known for the friendliest vibe, but of course my buddies on the east coast still just say we're the kind of people that "love it, but dont make an effort to dive deeper and know more about it" and i kinda have to agree a bit.

Then theres socal, which has a GREAT massive scene. Unfortunately though, thats gonna attract alot of kids who are gonna be like "omg a rave! im gonna do hella extmacies! ill be the coolest kid in the freshman class! yay im a raver! im gonna say plur a bajillion times but not follow it! wowww im so unique and cool because im doing the hot new trendy thing! omg techno i love cascada but my favorite room is the dnb one"

Not saying EVERYONE is like this, but thats just SOME views other people have towards the different scenes. Theres alot of different areas with different vibes. Im sure alot more people can put in better input than i could haha

I just wanna visit/move to somewhere that has it all, like Poland or the Czech Republic where i know both the vibe is great and people know & love the music hahaha

well...I know in Florida it's definitley mostly like club life but there are a few renegade type things once in a while...but they lack the plur vibe, it seems like it's mostly about "getting fucked up" there

My friends from Florida came out for Love fest. and were so shocked at how everone is so loving and accepting here, they fell in love with the scene!

I lived in northern FL for about 6 years. Just club scenes there, but the kids make up for it with knowing how to throw KILLER house parties. Lots of local DJs, and IO'm into Florida Breaks, so it was a good time living there.
I'm now outside of Washington DC. PA and NY seem to have a decent scene, but around here, it's pretty dead. Clubs, but not like I'm used to. I went to see VanBuuren last week, and the guys were wearing suits and ties, the girls were in cocktail dresses and heels.... I have no problem with looking good, but it was obvious no one was there to dance. =/ Talking to people around here, it seems like that's all there is.
I was first introduced into the scene in 2001/2002 when I went to SoCal. Friend took me to the Orion a couple times, then I went to Independance, and I was in love!
SoCal is the Plurryest place I've ever experienced, so I def. want to check out NorCal!

Well, I have been in 3 other scenes. The Hawaii in summer of 98 was full of PLUR, although not called such. The Chicago scene in 97-2001 was full of long ass parties in shady venues with a lot of shady shit, but also really cool people and I rarely felt unsafe (as a quite young guy, I would not have been allowed into a lot raves at that age now) Also, while a wider variety of drugs were present, less people were rolling, and/or anything but drunk. Also, a lot of great dancing. Then the Detroit scene circa 2000-2004 was commercial as hell, not so much dancing and music as a chance to get f-cked up, f-ck, and make money off the people doing so, but that was more around when DEMF occured, was better the rest of the time, still not great.

The bay scene seems cool so far.
