Well, two parties are just a drop in the ocean...in a relatively small enclave of the scene at large...but either way, people trying to make something happen is, in my opinion, a good thing. So, best of luck and perhaps I'll see you out there someday.

Besides, as previously noted, the scene as it is, is not the scene as it was, and it never will be. Which is fine...but, where it goes from here is just a matter of time...and the ineveitable constant, change.

The 'scene' has already moved in a new direction. What you guys are doing is still playing with the scraps of a now obsolete rotting carcass of a once historic subculture. You're so focused on this specific and minute dying scene that you don't even notice that there is something already new and interesting out there. lol

I understand to a degree what you are saying. But it is possible to incorporate pieces of the old scene (last incarnation), scenes before (back to a long time ago) and still be fresh. Right now I still say inclusion is going to be a big issue. It's also the biggest hurdle. Still doable though, just takes a lot of work.

One thing I find interesting is the near total exclusion of HHC and D&B as major components of parties today. Sure they are represented, but the frenzy and the excitement seem to be there, not in the trance sector which all the the bigger promoters are pushing. Seeing as I am still new this amazes me. When I first started looking at parties, all I heard was trance, house and break beats, but when I talk to the kids going it's all about HHC and D&B. So I am making that adjustment myself. I am also looking for something new and fresh to make a component.

Since you and a lot of others seem to have a handle on what's happening, please enlighten me. I want to do things right and see smiles on everyone's faces.

The trance that people play today is not trance...I used to like trance back in the day before it got all scwagged up. Now I have to go on record as saying...

I FUCKING HATE TRANCE.

Most of it is awefully boring, predictable, uninspired vomit.

I'd rather listen to HHC instead, which I also dislike but not nearly as much as commercial trance schwag...at least I won't hear HHC on the radio which gives it some measure of respectability.

Ya know what...THE SCENE Is Not Dead!!!...the scene you remember IS dead...now let me throw this out there before i get flamed now...the scene you remember when you came in (assuming you've been raving awhile)...is dead, just like your adolence is dead, once you've pasted the stage, it's done...but it's it good thing, it means it's grown...the scene is in a constant state of transformation, it has always adapted to the changes...ppl get jaded when they see "THEIR" scene die or get left behind, and these are the same ppl that complain about how it USE TO BE, but don't do anything about it...from what i've seen, the scene from 2006 has totally changed from 1996 and from 1996 back to 1986 was totally different back then too...the one constant about the scene is that it's constantly changing & the love of celebrating the music we all share and love...whether it's breaks or jungle or house or trance or HHC...the scene changes and it's a beautiful thing, but the love of the music goes way beyond "The Scene", and isn't that why most of us rave in the first place?...PLURR!

Rather than lash out at someone, seriously, I am trying and want to do right all BS aside, tell me what you would do? PM me if you feel more comfortable too. I do want to feel like I am contributing, okay?

It's pretty simple really.

You either produce amazing music, discover and promote amazing music or invent a new and amazing drug. Anything besides that won't really do much yanno?

The problem...Is that the people and the soul behind the events that actually meant something shifted out, and the people that replaced them are souless ignorant children that are bastardizing a culture that they can't even come close to fathoming.

Parties used to be full of intellectuals. College students, artists, musicians etc. who came to parties as a distraction from their busy lives, and to express their talents in a free space. Drugs were present, but always an accessory and not the basis of the community.

Now, it's 12-16yo bastard children who are trying to work out their daddy complexes, and emulate what they have been told the rave culture is supposed to be like. These kids have no brains, and the ones that are actually over 18 are high school dropouts with severe drug dependency issues. They base their entire community on getting as fucked up, as soon as possible, and as young as they can. There is no thought or drive behind their actions other than to make sure they have a good "trip."

You want to improve the scene?

Lock down the parties, kick out everyone under 18, enforce a dress code, push a culture based on something other than the most recent pressed pill, and purge the community of people who are only here because it's the only place that doesn't maintain basic standards.

Of course this isn't going to happen...so effectively yes...then scene is dead.

Get over it and move on.
