I managed to find a virgin venue on CL last year, right in DT SF. The party was supposed to go til 4am and it went til 3:45 when a neighbor literally cut the power. Cops came and left at like 1:00am suggesting that I "Keep the bass down, that's usually what people complain about"...precious moment indeed.

It's not impossible to find spaces but the problem is often that legit venues are not down with raves and cost thousands just for the space and venues that are down with raves and affordable are sketchy and questionable.

I mean, I threw a party in a gross fucking basement and was sick for a week afterward just from the environment...and that venue cost $700, and a bargain at that for the last minute "save my ass" spot that it was. But the venue owner was a crack smoking tweeker who needed to pay his mortgage and buy some rock...so he was pretty happy to get $700...but that's my point. The respectable people often give a shit what happens in their space. Hence, locations are hard to come by. At some point it's just a question of "do I really want to subject people to this one-bathroom shithole so I can throw my party?"

New spaces will come but the Bay is only so big and there are only so many people out there who are looking for spaces and and equally small number of spaces that have the right balance of elements where price, size, location, and owner open mindedness are concerned.

I think I said it to someone else before, if you find a spot, I'll handle the rest..that's the easy part...finding a new space is tough.

Oh dear.

How about this...

From now on everytime you go to a party, and it gets broken up, you take that time to go home and brush up on your English/Grammar skills? There are some people on here that need to spend less time on a dancefloor, and more time in a classroom...Ok?

teeheee...plur!

Like a couple people have mentioned before, Karma... However it plays out.

& yeah I wouldn't have been surprized if 12 people called the cops like someone said :lol

I got a text while I was out Saturday night about 930 I think that it was shut down. Hadn't even thought about the party at all that day. Although the ravers should have known better than to go to that party, I feel bad for them. Regardless of the situation (crew throwing it, location, etc) it still sucks that the party kids waste thier time & money for a shit down rave.

Anyway, que sera sera... I just hope everyone will FINALLY move on from all this & leave all the crappy shady drama & the crew in the past to make way for a more plurry San Francisco rave scene. </cheese>
