This member is the original thread starter. musik Teaching Everyone Love In Community - some guidlines for raving

the whole idea and belief behind renegades is really to enjoy the scene at its most basic and raw form you can get it. the people who come out should really think about making those parties their own because thats what raving really truely is all about. parties shouldn't be left soley on the promoters shoulders to do everything. obviously these shows are hard to do. so if party goers are throwing trash on the floor and starting fights here and there... that just hurts the vibe. if your enjoying the night and the party alot, think about asking the promoter if you can volunteer with something. spread the love around by picking up some trash so we can party there again in the future. is theres a fight that breaks out, call someone in charge to shut the music off... that usually stops everyone in there tracks. these smaller shows are community based. that means within our local raver scene, you can only measure the quality of the show by the love in community. if no one raises to the occasion to help out even if they're not involved, then what does that say about the rave scene.

in example... we thru a show a couple years back called "We Said" in Berkley. we knew we were going to get shut down half way thru the night because the building we were in was made of all metal siding. the sound that was bleading outside was horrendously loud. you felt the bass in the gas station behind us. so we were expecting the cops to shut us down around 2am. luckly most of our sound system wasn't being used. acually the whole show was powered but monitors and we had already shut off the main system. so before the cops had a chance to shut us down, we already started packing the main system into the truck to get hauled to our original venue in oakland. we secretly told everyone to check the voicemail for new directions and lets keep dancing till the cops do shut us down. 20 min later sure enough they came and we were already packed and ready to go. so we all jammed out of there to the other spot (TELIC). somehow the sound got there 15min after everyone else was there. so imagine the feeling we all had when all the ravers that showed up to the show came up to us and helped us all pack everything back into the venue. literally 400 ravers grabbed all the speakers and lights and moved them into place within 3min. we were up and running in no time. and that was one of the funnest parties we ever threw. its a community based scene.

renegades are the basic form like i said before. everyone is there for the music. people who throw them do it for the music. the dj's who play at them do it for the music. everyone donates time, money, effort for all of you to enjoy... so would it hurt to give some of that effort back?

in truth, these aren't rules but guidelines that someone once told me... they aply to all raves and ravers.... you guys want to have better parties? well then make them your own, and what i mean by that is be involved in spreading the love at the shows. you guys make the vibe, you guys make the shows better. don't if your just going to get fucked up... go for the music

~throw away you trash in the correct places
~be safe when you party (never overdo it)
~Find a balance so its just enough (parting sober is alot more fun, you remember more)
~when you roll, aways do so with a compitant partner who knows how to handle any situation
~Keep water handy
~Never mix your candie... (Trail mix is a bad thing)
~travel in groups, aways go with your friends (the larger the group the funner the time)
~never let girls walk alone anywhere (its just not safe)
GIRLS PUT SOME MORE CLOTHES ON!!!!!! YOU LOOK LIKE SLUTS - IT DOESNT MAKE YOU LOOK CUTE AT ALL, ONLY LIKE EASY PREY... AND TO ME YOU LOOK LIKE IDIOTS. I DON'T DATE GIRLS WHO DON'T LEAVE ME ANYTHING TO IMAGINE ANYWAYS.
~Make it a habbit to make five new friends at every show
~Think about making costumes, think about wearing matching costumes to parties. some of the sickest shows i've been to have been like that because of the people who go to them, you guys make the party

btw, if you are really getting tired of thugs coming out, then you should really think about making these shows underground. mailing list is an idea... also word of mouth. something you should all think about, back 7 years ago it was unheard of to post a renengade online. they were all word of mouth and you had to know someone to go to one of them generally because of all the risk involved if you were to get caught and yes the police did have narcs on this very message board at one time. think about about making it low-key. the whole idea is not to get caught.

Speaking of costumes, Tenchi... If all goes well I might be taking a few notes off your battlesuit for my POP gear, I hope you don't mind some more fiberoptic on the dance floor.

Tenchi, i loved reading this and i respect ever word of it. I do agree with most of your guidlines and would have to agree, when the pasrty was almost over i looked around and there was a shit load of trash everywhere!! i lucky kept my water bottle and threw it in my car but other than that, i do love renegades cause it does support our local scene no matter who shows up to it and i do agree with the sober part, it is alot more funnier and haha you do remember everything, it was a killer time last night!! Again, i really loved reading this, glad someone posted something like this for everyone to read!

Vito, I love you, thats some real deep shit dude, i think people should print this out and pass it out at partys and put it on peoples windshields and whatnot, this will definatly get people thinking and probably help make things a LOT better in the scene if it reaches enough people

Dressing slutty is one thing...

But if you REALLY must be halfway (or nearly all) naked, at least make some sort of costume or theme out of it.. When you just wear some regular bra & stripped bootie shorts or something, you just look like an idiot.
