Summer Gathering Review!!

When I heard it would be in the lift venue, I was stoked cause lift was a fuckin epic party, but when I heard they would only be using one floor, I was somewhat dissapointed.

Therefore, going into the party, my expectations were fairly low. I got there around 10 or 1030, and security was RETARDED. I had like 20 glowsticks on me and the dude said I couldnt take them all in. But, after begging and pleading ("all I do is glowstick all night!!! Come on!!!") he let me take them in. However, after searching my shoes AND SOCKS, he found and stole my vicks, followed by the question "you got any pills on you??????" (i did, but thank god the via-crotch method was still successful)

After that, I had a better time than I expected. It might have been the fact that I was hanging out with a lot of cool people, but I think for a party of this size it didn't go off too badly. I was wearing a black plur shirt and stringing orange and aqua sticks all night.

Definitely not a rave vibe, but I wouldn't say it was a negative experience for me at least. The party is what you make it

What was up with the security at summer gathering?! No gum. No makeup. No backpacks which we had to go all the way back to the car to get ride of them and when we got back to the front of the line the let people in with them because they called them purses, only six glowsticks per person, and you must wear a shirt at all times... which my friend learned the hard way, they kicked him out and me and n my other friend had to convince them to let him back in, some of it may also be due to the fact when security was shining a light on him and he thought it was a camera and started giving one crazy lightshow. It wasn't bad though, good music and a lot of first timers. I gave out a lot of kandi and stickers.

Serious lack of kandi kids. But I met some really chill people anyway... Bambi, Coral, Fameous, Plurple... A lot of the people I ran into were first timers, but seemed cool. A lot of fellow Cruz kids. My boyfriend and I danced and tried to find people who had a good vibe, but a lot of people seemed exclusive... not the regular vibe. Still, I loved the music!

I agree that it had a weird prom vibe about it. And security sucked. What was up with not being able to sit on the floor?

Good time, but weird party. I make my own good time though.

i had an ok time, took a bunch of pictures, as usual, but man...as already stated, whats up with the nazi security? guys all the way up on the 4th floor, people yeling outside to keep shirts on or you'll be kicked out, i had a sealed pack of gum they threw away....and yet they let smokers throw buts all over outside....don't get it.

The Austrian bar tender was f'in cool tho, earned a 5$ tip off a long island and a free water for my friend for being so cool, i got half way done with my drink and he topped it off...definately kudos. Music was decent, but the venue was too small and wasn't packed enough. Plus what was up with making people stand? crazy.

I'd like to add that the asian gogo dancer was pretty cute

only thing that wou'dve made the party more fun, was if my 2 dork friends actually danced instead of killing my anti-depressant induced happy vibe by just standing for 3/4 of the night upstairs....why pay 35$ to just go sit/stand at a rave? i don't get it.

As far as security at the door goes, my guy was awesome.(not like I had much time to judge him) but he took about 2 secs to search me, didnt take anything from me and told me and my friend about how he was guessing what each person was on.
Later after we got in, the security was bullshit. I mean seriously, no sitting down? and anyone with their shirt off was pretty much immediately yelled at. venue was also kinda weird because of how big it was compared to the amount of ppl. Would have been a lot sicker if we could have gone to the higher floors and could have sat down there...

Music was decent although the sound was good. Personally I would have taken John beaver's 1 hour set at free party over the entire summer gathering.

Overall id say it was pretty good as a general event but shitty compared to other raves

It's a good place... but to me it seems that the venue lady is doing more things to protect her property this time around having learned a good deal from the Lift 2 crowd. Months ago this was apparent when I heard that they wouldn't be allowing promoters to bring fliers inside. (kinda unheard of)

oh and BTW the venue really is only that one room, and we (myself and the rest of Evo) were only able to use all 4 of the other floors as rooms for Lift 2 because we sectioned them off by renting and making sound curtains and then covering those sound curtains with our heavy art banners.

Would have liked to hear that this went smoother on the security end because that sets a lousy tone, but at least it sounds like the music was bangin'.
