....but now comes the even more fun part: what TYPE of trance? Its such a divided genre these days, alot of non-trance listeners get confused on the differences and stereotype it as another subgenre we may not like!

Goa/Psy of course is in a whole different level altogether

Simply Psytrance alone has its OWN several subgenres.....poll #3 on the way? hahaha


For me, i like a good mix of both Techtrance & Melodic Trance. Anything with good energy and a catchy melody, or just a funky bassline that gets ya movin (which sometimes comes with Psy as well).


Electro/Progressive/Minimal is nice to hear too, but NOT all night long, and most certianly NOT at peak hour.

i've been listening to electronica since 1996. the artist's name was jocelyn enriquez. she had this song "do you miss me?" i loved the many remixes that were on the maxi single. the song hasn't aged well (sounds horrid to me now) but it was enough to get, and keep, me hooked. later on came daft punk's "around the world."

in 2000, before i went into the army, i purchased a trance compilation from hot topic entitled "global underground: departures." this album sealed the deal for me and i couldn't wait to find more like it. in fact i still have my favorite cuts from the compilation in regular rotation. anyway, i continue to pick up cd's here and there...some were good, many were generic crap. my collection is still minimal at best.

fast forward to 2008. i get involved in the rave scene and began asking experience electronica listeners, "can you listen to a few of my favorite songs? what style do i like?" every...single...time i would receive the response "psytrance."

so without even knowing what the genre (or sub in this case) was called, i've been a major fan of the style. psytrance gets my vote in its ballot.

Dude, Saphyre, this isn't a fair survey.

I enjoy Melodic Trance, as well as adore Hard Trance and Progressive Trance, But over all, I love Psytrance. So basically with that being said.
