Hey ravers...why's PLUR dying out? Our scene is being taken over by hyphy pill slingers and bros who just wanna go get drunk and pick up on underage girls.
TAKE THE DANCEFLOOR BACK!!! join [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] DJ Adam Ant's sister cofounded the site and it's just starting out. We need more members and more PLUR. Let's go back to the time where taking one pill would make you roll balls. Let's go back to when dancing wasn't just bumping and grinding. Let's go back to the 60's when PLUR was something that didn't need a name. Peace. Love. Unity. Respect. Paisley. |

LOL I love threads like these.
So im just gonna say the stereotypical responses you'll see: "PLUR is only dead because people like YOU stop believing in it and act like it needs to come back" "PLUR was never even alive. The scenes always had problems" "I agree! Where did the PLUR go? Why doesnt somebody else besides me do something about it while I sit back and do nothing to contribute?" " PLUR THIS PLUR THAT. Its enjoying music and getting fucked up while meeting some kickass people. Not some mickey mouse everyones my friend and loves me bullshit.""PLUR is only around your first rave. After that you get used to it and dont get excited about parties anymore...so you just burn out and it becomes a regular thing" As for my opinion, I both agree & disagree. I miss the "Concert Vibe" that most raves have. The entire front of the room being crowded as hell with hundreds of people jumping & waving thier arms to the music, and even singing along to the lyrics. I've been asked on more than one occasion by people "omg how do you know the lyrics to these songs? you must really love trance. Anyways im gonna go to the DnB room, bye." I just think its sad when me and two friends are the only people in a room of 500+ singing the lyrics. Maybe people are just getting shy these days, but I've always had random people just walk up to me and say hi. Nowadays I dont get that as much, so i took it upon my own liberty to say wsap to people, ask them stuff like how long u been partyin, whos ur favorite artists, shiz like that. Talk to them yourselves!! Dont think its a shitty vibe and people are unfriendly just because you wont start the conversation. Ive said this lotsa times, but MUSICAL KNOWLEDGE plays a huge factor.....I'm dissapointed with all these kids claiming their favorite Deejay is ATB (even though they can only name two of his old classics and NONE of his new material made after 2003)....yet they talk about how kickass DnB is and cant name a single artist besides a local DJ. It just confuses me. I also talked before at the rate that a "raver" is just becoming another highschool fad like skater/emo/goth/prep. Its just an attention/image thing rather than actually caring about what it means. "omg i go to raves and do E! Im so rebellious to society! tee hee!" Okay good for you. Wanna listen to this new Galen Behr mix CD? yeah, much different from Barbie Girl & Dj Sammy isnt it. anyways, im just ranting cuz im bored and have nothing else to do. So yeah. PLUR. ![]() |

I'm glad you had so much to say. You as a senior ravelinker obviously know way more than me, but just so you know I was trying to help promote my friends site (Which sadly doesn't get as much traffic as it should) and also an ideology that should be more widespread. I have been noticing violence and sexual violence more prevalently lately, and I think that shouldn't be allowed in a place where Peace is suppose to be our goal. haha as for DJ's my favorites are Dieselboy and Evol Intent hands down...definitely not ATB or Crackerjack or anything like that haha. Hope you can see where I'm coming from and don't think I sound like another E-tarded hippie wanna-be. in all honesty though: Peace. Love. Unity. Respect. Paisley. |

If with no bad a utopia can exist in it's dictionary defined form than how could that not be good if only a theoretical possibility anyway?
Violence will never be completely ousted by us friendly folk, but we should still try to fight against it at EVERY opportunity presented to us. PEACE! Paisley |

dont get me wrong im totally against violence and everyone should always strive for the best. however, we are supposed to be an open scene, i dont get why other people are just being stereotypical when there's hoes, whores, 'thugs', 'gangsters', are on the dancefloor. let people have their fun. leave them alone, you have your fun and let them have their. if it comes to threatening someone's life. then as a community of course action will be taken. but just pointing people out sayin they are drug addicts, etards, idiots, gangsters, molesters, etc. well its just hypocritcal cuz im sure no one wants to be called any of that nasty stuff. i have many 30 year old raver friends who are shunned by many party goers because of their age. so the party goers assume that partyers over a certain age are only there for the drugs/whores no. we are people, we are who we are. we are equally different/same. wow...im blabbing...haha im just saying, have your own fun. /end |

Indeed, contrast is the foil of mediocrity...

I also wanna second your point, Bonkers, about someone being insulated by their ideals. Saying that this or that or the other thing or way to do something is incorrect is elitist, narrow minded and contrary to the point. If you wonder what happened to the PLURRY vibes, you need to ask yourself when was the last time you approached someone at random and just said "Hey, what up! I'm Paisley" that was outside of the parameters that you define as "plur" promoting/acting. When you limit the people that can take part in an ideal because they do not match your definition of that ideal you not only segregate them but you also segregate yourself and label yourself as a stereo type in the process. Even within the music today the scene is split and genrefied and this is a reflection of the individuals segregating themselves off into neat little sub-scenes, Junglists, house heads, trance...well, people who like trance. 10 years ago, dj's played multiple styles in one set, mixing trance and techno with house and breaks...now most people play a "style" and most people like a "style" or two. I just think that this is indicative of the mindset of the audience...ununified. And, not to be harsh but, the energy spent on this thread could go into just saying what's up to some "ho, thug, druggie, voyer" at a party and seeing what they're really about before you pin the destruction of the possibility of a utopian society on them. [/rant] By the way, all the hippies I know from the 60's and the haight in the summer of love are all yuppie conformists who drive expensive import cars. The most counter culter thing the majority do is cook the books to get the best tax break. Neo-republican shite...Humph...so much for that cultural movement. The thing is, you guys are assuming we're prejudging on stereotypes. I'll say what's up and be cool with the dude who's eyeing the chicks at the place; I won't do the same to the dude that's obviously forcing some drugged-up chick he doesn't know to kiss him. I'm far from one to prejudge... I'm a black male raver myself, and I notice how little attention I get compared to my rave comrades, assumingly because some people see me and think I'm mister thuggy-thug in disguise looking to peddle some drugs and steal all the white women. This has, in turn, turned out not too bad for me because it has forced me to be the one to initiate conversation, something I don't normally do all that much. Plus, some of the best lightshows I've ever gotten have been from the dudes in baggy street clothes and baseball caps. Rantrant rabblerabble etc
Point is, I'm not looking to deal with the people I might think are trouble... I'm looking to deal with the people that have had their chance to rave and fucked it up by bringing things down. |

One of my best friends in the rave scene (and his brother too) are both somewhat african american...haha not exactly sure how much. I think half, but he dresses in moderately gangsta clothes sometimes but still gives a better lightshow than almost anyone. I don't prejudge, i just hear/see a lot of fucked up shit going on around here...i've seen people hit by cars after raves, bottles broken over heads, guys following girls into the bathroom, drunk guys allllll over girls who are WAY too sober to handle it... idk... prejudgement is lame, but judgement is a inextricable from perception. peace. paisley. |
