Ladies and gentlemen.
Get a clue. Skills is not part of a conspiracy to put ravers in jail, there were no pay-offs to bust ravers, and the blackout was not part of the sting. This is par for the course with massives, out of the xx,000 people that were there the cops nabbed 58? That's a pretty weak sting considering the amount of drugs that were in the building, I'm sure. If it was one of you, or one of your friends, that sucks, no doubt. But you cannot just assume that because it is a "rave" that drugs are suddenly legal or that all venues are the same. The free for all attitude you might see at some small undergrounds does not work in a large, commercial venue like the Cow Palace and if you think it does, your likelihood of getting busted increases exponentially. As for the black out, which sounds like an easier task, busting people in a giant building with lighting, or evacuating a pitch black building filled with thousands of people? That black-out affected more than just the cow palace, for the local authorities to just turn out the lights on a huge part of the population is way more of a hazard than 58 busts are worth. Last, why would the cops pay off skills to bust people? They can just get a court order that skills has to let them in, it's called a warrant. And it's a lot cheaper than paying anyone off, especially as skills had THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of dollars invested in that party, should they risk having the cops cancel their permit all together for NOT cooperating? Just take this as a lesson learned, big raves = easy target for law enforcement. Plan accordingly. ![]() |

and yeah, catching kids with drugs with the lights on does sound a whole lot easier. and if the blackout was part of it, who's to say that SF's power troubles all weekend weren't just part of the setup? i don't think they really thought that far ahead... i mean...i guess it is possible, but i really want to believe that skills has enough loyalty to the scene to not knowingly cut the headliner's set in half - someone that probably hundreds of people traveled far to see. i'm sure they didn't have much choice but to let the cops use their event as a drug bust, but to deny us of one of the headliners? come on... and btw, 100+ posts! wooo!!! just had to say something... ![]() |

i will never go to a skills event ever again... that was bull***t to turn on your own kind i have never seen undercover that bad in my entire life of raving. the undercovers were dressed as kandi kids for christ sake. a buddy of mine got booked becase when they(undercovers, dressed as kandi kids) asked him where they could get pills he pointed to a guy who was selling. when he pointed the cops grabbed my buddy and the dude who was selling, searched and booked my buddy for posetion of 3 pills. i never found out what happend to the other guy. after that i just couldnt enjoi myself at the rave i just wanted to go home and cry or bail him out. ohh and i heard from the jail it was 192 arrests. i dont sell but if i did i would really be scared.
i felt that the venue was crap the cop scene was crap and the power outage was crap. SKILLS ARE A BUNCH OF SELL OUTS. u just lost one last raver. POP totaly changed my outlook on techno and raving. it was fun before i had to watch my back every minute to make sure there wasnt a cop. True ravers are awsome, forget the police. F*** the cops three thumbs way down |

Word of advice for every one....massives=BYOE.
If you choose to run shit anywhere you run the risk of getting caught. Something for those of you who bitch about getting shit confiscated at the door at raves.......Have you ever stopped to think this might be in your favor? It was really obvious there were undercovers there. Bags weren't even getting checked. If some thing seems to good to be true it probably is. BE RESPONSIBLE AND AWARE! As for Daly City in general........not suprised. I was out there at 12:30 to promote. I left for 10 minutes to grab my flyer boxes and when I came back there were DOUBLE the amount of police standing in front of the Cow Palace. I just thought oh shit some thing is going down! Few minutes later the power went out. Then the madness of people scrambling and promoters trying to flyer began. It was a crazy time and I am bummed cause I didn't get to see Shimon's set. DNB DNB! Please be safe this summer so that we see you raving in the fall! ![]() Quote:
Do not tell people where to find ANY THING! If you don't know them and you don't know who is selling something STAY OUT OF IT. Don't put yourself at risk in order to help some one get high. It just is not worth it. Last edited by **Mandi**; 28.5.2008 at 3:29 pm.. Reason: automerged doublepost |

I think it's plainly obvious that there were undercovers.
I must have been asked a good 6 times about pills. Granted I did look like the normal drugged up raver (shirt off, binkie in the mouth, dancing like a madman) but I've never had to turn away that many people before. I mean, common. If you have 20,000 people, there's bound to be at least ONE undercover. I'm sure there were probably at least 500 of them there. Rule of thumb: DON'T BUY ANYTHING AT MASSIVES. Even if it's from your best friend who you only see at the rave itself, don't buy from them inside the event. All they need to see is someone reaching into a pocket, and another guy with money for you both to get fucked. I don't know why anyone would by anything at a rave to begin with, prices are high as balls for lower quality product. Go around and meet people, I'm sure you can find someone who can get you whatever you want outside of the event. As for the power outage, well I don't care. I honestly, truly, don't. Tiesto's set was sucking horribly to begin with, not to mention that it was just too hot for us in there. If I were in another room, I might have actually wanted to stay, but I felt it was good timing. It doesn't matter if it was a random occurance or if it was planned. The night was ended early, end of story. If you want to bitch about it, call up skills themselves and yell at them. Not only will this forum not get you anywhere, but you can't change what's already happened. Move on. If you or your friend got caught, well that sucks. You could rule it out as darwinism, seeing as how the more stealthy people didn't get caught. -TC |

It was a sad turn of events, and it's a bummer that that many people got arrested.. but like Mandi said... It's smarter to byoe, especially at massives.
It's a bummer that this had to happen to skills, because no matter what people say, to some it will still look like skills has turned his back on ravers. |

LMAO @ thinking Skills was in on a sting !! No way in hell.
They were probably told that there would be "extra" police including undercovers. As a promoter, you have to deal with it since you throw these parties or the MUSIC and NOT the drugs. Skills doesn't throw shows for you to sell drugs at idiots. If you're so stupid to deal drugs at a massive, you deserve to get caught. To those of you surprised by the bust and cops/undercovers...i hate to tell you but they are usually at EVERY show that is on this website and BR and whatever other rave page that carries rave info. Cops read these threads and get their ammo needed to do these stings. Talking about getting high or rolling at such and such gig on this date only makes their jobs easier to bust you or your friends. Think about it. There is no such place as a "safe place to sell your drugs rave". Raves are raves and drugs will always be around and you can count on cops trying to bust the dealers. |

i saw one undercover walk a guy in handcuffs through the crowd and they all looked like random old guys but with a glowstick necklace around his neck to look more raver-ish...i saw a couple more guys like that with red lei's on and red glowstick necklaces..probably a code or somethin? but yeah massives are shady. undergrounds are way better, more plur and less police!!
