Dozens arrested at rave partyTuesday, May 27, 2008 | 5:34 PM

DALY CITY, CA -- Nearly 60 people were arrested on drug-related charges late Saturday and early Sunday during a sting operation at a rave party at the Cow Palace in Daly City, the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force announced today.

More than 115 police officers and support personnel from about 20 law enforcement agencies, including the task force and the Daly City Police Department, were involved in the undercover sting operation at the event, "etd.POP 2008," which was promoted as an electronic music festival.
Fifty-five adults and three juveniles were arrested on charges of sales of illegal narcotics or possession for sale of illegal narcotics, according to the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force.

Authorities seized more than 1,000 Ecstasy tablets as well as Ketamine, marijuana, methamphetamine and over $5,000.
The task force reported that patrons at similar events have used "club drugs" such as Ecstasy, GHB, Ketamine and LSD.
Daly City police Capt. Mike Edwards said that that the promoters of the event as well as management of the Cow Palace were notified in advance about the sting operation.
"The Cow Palace and the promoters of these events are all aware of what's going to happen and are all supportive of our efforts," Edwards said.
All those arrested were booked into the San Mateo County jail and were scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. today.

thats bullshit i hate cops, my friend got caught up by a undercover and that killed the rest of the night not adding that pop was canceled an 1hr early, events like theses are all about good vibes and having a good time, cops fu##ing suck

Have you ever been to any of skills massives? There are tons of UC inside and paddy wagons outside. Skills is obligated to cooperate with the law, or there wouldn't be parties at this magnitude in the bay anymore. If you or your friends wants to slang drugs, its your life. Just be smart about it and only deal with people you know.

of course I have.. last years pop was tons better (probably because it was actually in SF, but whatever) there was just something so SKETCHY about this years. i'm never going to a skills party again.. i don't slang drugs, but i do find that EXTREMELY messed up to turn your back on your own scene and welcome the daly city cops into the party to arrest whatever ravers they please. AND undercovers asking EVERYONE for pills, how is that chill? they COULD of thrown the party elsewhere, you know..

skills just seems like they're only in it for the money..

i think its pretty unfair to blame this on skills. put yourself in their shoes, did they really have a choice? it was a permit event so everyone going should have known what was up. also, its not like skills can come over the pa and tell everyone there are uc's in the crowd?!?

Bill Grahm was out of service, and they couldn't get the pier this year Its either at the cow palace or some other really shitty venue.

I don't think skills actually turned their backs on the "scene;" they were obligated by law to not to impede in a cops drug sting. If they (skills) did get involved trying to stop the sting, skills would be over and done with.

so the cops just approach skills like oh yah we're doing a drug sting at you're rave. BTW we're taking up one of the rooms in cow palace so we can book the ravers that come to your party.

WOWZERS! For skills to lie to us and say it was a power outage, I knew I smelled bullshit. This event just makes the rave community look bad and gives cops more of a reason to bust down on ravers. Don't be surprised if you hear more shit like this through out california or other states. On the another hand, I can't be too mad at skills for this happening because we all know it's a permitted rave so you know there's gonna be rules and regulations he was gonna have to follow, especially at a rave.


As for skills turnning his back on the rave scene, come on. Skills knows that club drugs are gonna be there and he knows that people are gonna be rolling AND THE COPS KNOW THIS TOO, but you guys also know that it's illegal and if you get caught with it, that's on you. Just be smart about it.
