Okay, found mine in the sea of flames and copy/pasted.

Quote:
It's more than just a 4-letter joke acronym, and though it's not my life's dictating force, I do hold it in high regard. If you actually dwell on it, you rarely ever actually see peace, love, unity, and respect in totality and unison. For fleeting moments (admittedly most on drugs) I've seen this at raves/renegades, and the overwhelming idea of it actually occuring puts my mind at ease, and at times when mixed with the trancic beats brings me to a near-spiritual state of euphoria (once again, probably drugs) that I highly enjoy. It reminds me that there are still things in the world to enjoy. I don't go around preaching PLUR, because I think it's something people have to discover and experience for themselves, and to get the true meaning it takes more than just making the word one of your top 10 most-said.
Furthermore, I don't believe PLUR is meant to be rational. PLUR is a state of delusion, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. People use delusion to escape their everyday lives and temporarily find a better place everyday, via video games, movies, sports, working out, drugs, or any other form of enveloping activity/entertainment. A PLUR moment is just an artificial heaven. While ChunkyNuts is right and it cannot be used to fix very few (if any) real-world problems on it's own, the effects it can have on your inner peace and attitude is something that shoud'nt be disregarded. If everyone was actually going to a rave/renegade with the goal of getting to this point instead of just breaking shit/selling drugs/oogling girls/starting fights/rolling until your penis falls off, then I think a lot of the crowd control probems we are having would cease to be.

I surprised the view of PLUR is so negative here on Ravelinks.

In my jadedness, I still have an idealistic view of PLUR. But, it's also tied to very fond memories of when I was a raver baby. Maybe there was E involved, maybe not. But in my infant days, there really was an overwhelming feeling of love & unity & community in those big warehouses.

When I threw parties, I never did it for the money. Sure, it was great to break even, but throwing parties shouldn't be about money. I tried to create environments that would make other people to feel what I felt when I first started raving. For me, it was magical.

To the person who said the promoters don't make the vibe, I totally disagree. The vibe starts with the promoter; the ravers enhance it. The promoters' intentions are the basis of the vibe for the party. And if you're familiar with energy and energy work, then you know a vibe can be created.

I dont think anyone here is trying to downsize the meaning and importance of plur. Just trying to stay real. It's just a concept, nothing more.

Oh Jesus Kristie snap out of it.

As Mojofuck said, Plur is a state of delusion, however it IS a bad thing. The longer you igtnore reality and use this acronym as an escape from life, the more you harm your chances of actually being a functioning member of society (I mean you as a broad term, not you specifically).

Grow up, rejoin the real world, and stop running away from your life.

Or maybe some ppl act negatively towards ravers/raves BECAUSE of PLUR. Ever think of that? They see it as weakness and choose to take advantage of it. Lots of people take advantage of PLUR, I know promoters do it all the time. It's easy to get away with shit in a community that tries to be naive and stupid. Now if the community didn't stand for bullshit and grew a spine, maybe those problems wouldn't exist.

Oh Please *****. All I'm saying is that PLUR was ONCE an ideal for me. Do I think it's the same for ravers now? NO. Do I want to teach these ravers about it anymore? NO. You have to admit, *****, raves were magical back when we started. I'm sure the drugs helped with that "delusion," but who cares? I think drugs opened my mind to a lot of things. Some of them bad, most of them good.

Raving or drugs aren't a part of my life anymore, but that doesn't mean I regret any of my time doing either of them.

As for rejoining the real world, I've always been in the real world while I was raving. I always had good jobs, I've owned real estate. My bank account is bigger than most ravers will make during their entire lives. I've lived in the real world; it's kinda overrated.

And just because I believe in love & community & PLUR & that shit, doesn't mean I'm running away from anything.

This is why I go to Burning Man and you don't understand why.

(I still love you, tho )

Actually, no. I never looked at it like that. Looking back at Zapatistas trying to promote "PLUR & good vibes," I can see where promoters have taken advantage of it.

There was a time I would have liked to think things like that wouldn't happen. I mean, the rave scene was supposed to be a utopia, an escape. As soon as I got involved with the production side, I learned THAT idea was delusional.

DBS: Thats because no one reads your posts anymore :P

I honestly don't think the only way to stop people from exploiting people with a PLUR mindstate is to kill PLUR altogether. Unless you've completely brainwashed yourself with the idea that everyone at a rave has the best of intentions and wants to be your friend, you'll find that it has a on-off switch. When someone's being a dickbag at a rave, I don't just stand around and say "PLUR will fix it all", I go tell him to stop being a dickbag. Changeable mentality is what allows people to be able to fully understand and experience PLUR as well as live everyday competitive lives in a real world.

E-tarded delusioned candy kids that you're trying to educate would respond better if your posts were more PLURful and less insulting
