Does anyone else find all of these pink products that have been coming out lately(Cell phones, laptops, ect) slightly sexist? I mean its stereotypical to believe that all girls like the color pink. True most girls I know like pink but I know a few who find it sexist just as I do... I mean wouldnt asians get pissed off if I covered products in rice thinking they will like it or making products looked like they were fried to attracted africans?
Does anyone see my point? (Im not racist I'm just quoting several stereotypes to get my point across, personally I dont care what color you are as long as you bring good vibes and have a ambition in life I'll get along with you great! ) |

Well, if most girls like pink, don't you think it's in the company's best interest to make their product pink? I don't think it's much of a sexist issue as a money issue.

Personally thats what I love about raving, stereotypes seem to be non existant. I love just being able to be myself and not be viewed in a negative way by someone just because something I may be doing is considered "different" you know? |

![]() ![]() ![]() i would buy a laptop covered in fried chicken. making stuff pink, just like making stuff red or blue or black, is intended to attract consumers who favor the color and want to give their purchases a little personal flair. it's just unfortunate that the color pink has become symbolic of a "feminine" personality (again). does anyone remember a couple summers ago when rappers made it really cool for dudes to wear pink? my brother (6'0, ~300 lbs., defensive linesman) definitely had a pink polo and so did his friends (also rather big dudes). it's up to either sex to destroy the dogma that pink is for girls. personally i find the expensive jeans trend a little more unsettling. it's fucking denim, why does a 7 logo on the ass cheek boost the cost to $172? |

i think when it became a trend for guys to wear pink polos, the stereotype sort of wore off.
colors can not be sexist, nor how people use them. i disagree. PTots. Hyphy kids Thugs Scene Kids E-Tard Jaded we see people that all look like the above mentioned..but do they really ACT liek the above mentioned? (I'm aware i look a lot like a 'scene kid' sometimes) Quote:
I blame the consumers that actually dish out that much more than the company. I get those same jeans at goodwill for under ten dollars, just a little used and old. Last edited by Klover; 12.5.2008 at 3:34 am. Reason: automerged doublepost |

Unfortunately, stereotyping makes people a lot of money, and has very much to do with money. Film , tv and entertainment has a lot to do with stereotypes. Sexism on tv and in movies make quite a profit. Who likes atypical girls, for example? Not Hollywood. Stereotypes make it easy to categorize people and when people are predictable, you know what to SELL them. Though it makes the creators some money, it doesn't allow us consumers to think outside the box. Last edited by redeuphoria; 12.5.2008 at 4:45 am. Reason: automerged doublepost |
