I work at a camera store. I would currently recommend the canon SD (we have the SD450 and SD550 in stock at our store, and the SD is probably some of the smallest cameras you'll find) series, the nikon S series(careful though, I think the majority of it is going to be replaced soon), or the sony T series. The nikon L series are older cameras, with not so many features and smaller screens than the S, but they are much cheaper. Also, if you can afford it, and don't mind a little extra bulk, the nikon P series (P4 or P3 if you can) are awesome cameras.

Megapixels dont really matter unless you want to blow up the picture. A picture you take at 800x600 on a 1 megapixel camera is the same quality as the picture on a 80 megapixel camera.

Wavelength is right. A 6 megapixel camera is sufficient to make just about any reasonable size print (by reasonable I mean up to anything about poster sized) you want, and still have very good quality. You should be focusing more on how much you're willing to spend, the screen size/camera size, the options and settings, and the zoom range. I wouldn't recommend casio's for raving, as they tend to take great day/adequate lighting shots and not so great low light shots (a lot of which is due to their "anti shake" feature). Like I said, the Nikon S, P, or L series, and the canon SDs are probably what you're looking for.
