alright, when I first joined ravelinks, checking these boards was always exciting and in a way, fun. Everybody got along, and of course there were always the serious threads, but for the most part it was just people talking about there weekend, or reviewing a party, or making plans for next weekend. It seems like now there has been a major surge in talk about bad promoters, that party sucked, I hate drug addicts blah blah blah. Now these topics are serious and do need to be addressed, but it seems like that's all ANYBODY ever talks about here anymore.
Also I dont know 3/4 of the new people on here. It's like an entirely new crowd. So, lets start over, the way it was when i first joined. People give a description of yourself. Name: Mike Knight Rave name(if people still do this): Lowball Age: 19 Location: Novato Occupation: Shipping and Recieving Favorite Food: Indian (curry = yum!) Favorite Color: Green Favorite Beer: New Castle First Rave: Lost in Wonderland Date of first rave: August 2005 why you went: My friend said I should go and that I would Like it reason for sticking with it: Because I loved it, and it pretty much, gradually because my life, it's a lifestyle, and i'm happy with it. your idea of a smashing party: 1 Gigantic Room with millions of decorations everywear, blacklight covering every single corner of the room brightly, perfect sound system, With headliners Sy and Unknown, and DJ Paul |

Depends on the season... First Rave: GRIN! Date of first rave: April 1993 why you went: Cause I knew it was gonna be dope and I got like 15 friends to go...it was dope. reason for sticking with it: Creature of habit, and I still sense a long connection back into history... your idea of a smashing party: It was called TEN, it was 100,000 sq ft, three rooms, huge sound, pawn lasers, 6 point sound in every room, about 150 friends and 6,000 or 8,000 friendly strangers...chilled with everyone from all walks...danced, there was a wall showing 3-D movies, free water, free massage, air conditioned, free ample parking, and it went from 9:00 - 7:00am....a sunrise after a rave is beautiful... |

Name: richard "Milo" gavan
NICKname: Milo Age: 18 Location: San Francisco Occupation: Entering UCSB in the fall 2007 Favorite Food: i love a lot of food, but all around i think itll be pizza, or sushi. probably pizza cuz its cheaper and more filling. Favorite Color: Violet. id say purple but i prefer the blue tint to it ya know? Favorite Beer: Coors Lite First Rave: Pop Ya Cork! Date of first rave: December 2006 why you went: a friend asked me what i was doing for new years, i said dunno yet she said wanna go to a rave and i had always wanted to go to one so i said sure. my ride actually bailed on me but someone really awesome ended up lending me a hand. reason for sticking with it: i've loved partying for a long time now and a rave is probably one of the best parties there is. although i dont always prefer the term "rave" b/c its so ambiguous and has negative connotations in some situations. "party" is a good term. then theres places that are more like clubs but still play electronic music i call them [genre] clubs. like drum n bass club. i wish other subcultures and lifestyles partied as hard as ravers. not everyones willing to organize, set up hella equipment and shit just so people can have an amazing time. i also like the aspect that its not one of those "get drunk and pass out" parties. Iv been to a lot of house parties where people just get wasted, as well as outdoor get-drunk-in-the-park type parties, all of which got old after a year or so. i like being able to stay up late and paaarty all night long. not see people puke and pass out before 12. thats just lame. nothing against house parties though, just most of the ones i'v been to suck cuz its just a bunch of highschoolers throwing an open house party when there parents are gone. the music is probably one of the most amazing parts. music + dancing. your idea of a smashing party: Lift 2. seriously it sounds "smashing" its all i could ever really want in a party, what else could you want? |

Name: Jason Huls
Rave name(if people still do this): Knowledge Age: 21 Location: San Leandro/Oakland Occupation: Landscape Design/Installer Favorite Food: Indian never lets me down Favorite Color: "light tan" Favorite Beer: Blue Moon First Rave: Some F8 party I don;t know the name of. Date of first rave: June 2001 why you went: Wanted to hear electronica 'live' reason for sticking with it: The people are usually pretty great and I don't think I'll ever get tired of Electronica. There's something intrinsically human about headin out to a place full of wild lights and new people, dancing all night long to the same great music full of drums and bass and then waking up the next morning and wondering if you just dreamed it. your idea of a smashing party: A single room with ample, but full dance space. A chill room would be a must and decorations would be amazing. PM me if you wanna talk, Im always down to talk |
