This member is the original thread starter. Unhappy Is the San Fran scene dying?

I hope not but I cant help but notice the lack of gatherings going on recently. San Francisco is where I started raving back in 1993 and I had been planning to move back this upcoming year to DJ there, but there seems to be nothing really happening.

I might have to move back to southern California instead. I go where the raves are.

Were are the raves at???

I've only been in the scene for 4 months. But from what I've noticed.. Most raves that are KNOWN are usually on ravelinks. There are a shit load of undergrounds going on every weekend. Its just hard to find them because you usually have to know the person throwing the party or know someone that knows someone, etc. The scene is not dying. Its living and thriving. I've talked to a lot of ravers from back in the day. The scene isn't as strong as it used to be.. But its still here. I just dont think we (ravers) are as UNITED as we used to be when it comes to sharing party information.

What I've been seeing recently is more people being introduced to the scene and much less leaving. If anything, the scene is growing. Hopefully the noobs are there for the right reasons.

pink glowsticks Re: Is the San Fran scene dying?

I was very much into the scene from about 1997-8 -->2001-2. I left for a few years and have been back since afterparty. In my opinion the scene has changed A LOT!!! It does seem to have gotten smaller. Or less available.

Times have changed. Raves have a "stigma" now. too many people "think" they know that raves are "bad" so they do there best to kill the parties these pople work so hard to throw. Its forced many ravers to go underground or just plain out leave. However people get older or leave for there own reasons but theres always new people coming in or old people like me coming back!!!
Ravers are in full effect. the scene will never die!!!

Its a little of all the above. There is more of an underground scene. However there arent as many renegades in winter cuz of the cold weather. Summer usually is booming. But yeah with the lack of venues people can't throw that many parties. Scenes here some of it has grown up and moved on to the club scene.

PLUR will never die as long as there are people who believe in it, i for one believe in it and try to live my life as plur as possible all day everyday,

The scene will change but it will never die. This thing "raving" is nothing new...humans have been raving since the birth of music in one way or another. I don't think a few dry months will change thousands of years of humans celebrating all night to pounding music.
