California is cool, although i haven't raved in any other state. however i have raved a good deal in socal and more in norcal. and overall i prefer norcal, but i hear san diego is, or at least was, a cool scene too. LA has the bigger, better-ish massives though. Electric Daisy Carnival had well over 30,000, and most people were having an awesome time except for a small percentage of people whom were there for reasons not including love of electronic music. And that is about three times bigger than the main venue for massives in San Francisco: Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, with capacity of about 10,000. And the only crew that really throws massives in SF is Skills, and they bring out a grip of the big name DJs, but their LoveFest After Party isn't gonna have Drum n Bass this year (weak sauce: it makes Nocturnal in Socal so much more appealing, but i know i'll have a good time at either).

I do however way prefer San Francisco's underground scene and the mini-massive scene (2,300+ but that's rare), although there are only a handful of crews that draw me out nowadays, and I only go to oakland parties a few times a year because i boycott venues that have in the past had shootings, armed robberies, stabbings, etc. Also I still need to check out a sacramento party, but i heard last year the party with the best line-up in Sac actually never booked most of the DJs and ripped everybody off, other than that Sac is supposed to be cool. And santa cruz has a PLURy, small, rapidly growing scene, but parties have to end at 1:30, so Santa Cruz is like home of the raging after-party as far as my friends are concerned.

In Norcal my favorite crew HANDS DOWN, is Evolution Entertainment, but their next party won't be until 2008, so all i have nowadays for which to REALLY REALLY look forward are the LoveFest After Party here in SF (because the parade and day festival are free and AWESOME) at the end of this month, and Monster Massive in LA just days before Halloween.

Hope California is all it's cracked out to to be for ya.

P.S.- Is there P.L.U.R. in the New York scene?

What are you looking for exactly? Clubs, rafes, massives? What type of music are you into: House, Psy, Trance, Breaks, DnB, Hardcore, and etc? The more information you provide about the things you prefer, it would be easier for us to point you in the right direction. Otherwise, you would be pointed to a shitty rafe with music you won't like.

Anyways, if you are coming to SF specifically for the Lovefest Parade, you can't really go wrong with most of the after after parties that pops up.

Awsome.. thanks for all your feedback, i appriciate it.
I am def comming out there for love fest. I was thinking about spending the entire month of sept there, if not longer, come back to ny work some more and then just move to cali.
I am really big into hardcore, but everywhere i go it doesnt seem to be that popular
I just love the music and the underground parties. I dont like clubs. Do they have outlaws and stuff out there?
I also like festivals and bigger events.

1337 lovefest. well if you do decide to spend a mo, i definitly recomend monster massive. i went there last year and had a most amazing time. theres some hardcore as well as underground parties however i havnt gone to any just cause they seem a bit too sketchy. Power to the Peaceful is happening tomorrow, but i dont think u wil be able to get out here in time lol(some 20k people attended last year). hope you enjoy yourself out here. if you havnt visited socal its a pretty ahsome place. my sister just finished school out there and one of my best friends is atteneding ucsd

There is alot of UK hardcore (especially if you love vocals), not much from the freeform and gabber department. The only thing I'm looking foward to is Smile 10yr anniversary (11/9) feat Impact, Hixxy, and loads more (hopefully gabber ) + two other side rooms.

The only hc party that is going on during september is some event tommorow featuring locals with Entrigue (chick is hard as nails) and Si Apex. And there is another one next week at sweets, the venue alone isn't worth going to imo. But if you have never heard a set from Sunrize, it should be a fun. Both are new crews throwing their first events I believe.

As for outlaws, we call them renegades. Acid totem already finished their full moon renegades for the summer (correct me if I'm wrong). There are others, but those are more discreet.

As for festivals and big parties, Skills and Spundae will announced them when the times comes. Other than that there isn't any other groups/crews throwing massives. But there are always mini-massives that tend to pop up from time to time. Look for anything by Evolution Entertainment, you can not go wrong with them. Oh right, there is a new group, nebulam78 (correct me if I'm wrong) that seems to be pushing hc back into the main rooms. They only done one event that I can recall, and I heard it went off till 6. Anyways, yadda yadda just be safe and have fun

Edit: If you have any more question, feel free to post it.
