If you're looking for hardcore, you can never go wrong with Dr. Freeclouds in So-Cal. I was turned on to the place after I met Ron D Core at a party, and they have the best hardcore selection I've ever seen, hands down. Hell, any place that stocks things by Cunt Records gets my seal of approval. That said, they do tend to focus more on the American Hardcore and Gabber side of things, I don't recall there being an insane amount of UK stuff (But this was two+ years ago as well, so who knows?)
Plus, since they're in So Cal, even if you ordered online I'm sure the shipping charges would be nothing like they are from the UK. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] |

MUTHERFUCKING PREACH!!! I think the original mix of Raver Raver Raver is good though. MojoKong- PM me your e-mail and I will give you a complete list of my favorite spots. Sorry I can't spend all of time I spend researching places to find music just to dump them all out on Ravelinks (there are a LOT more then listed so far BTW). I'm really not even crazy about giving any of them (besides the obvious ones) out but I will always help out anybody from Sacramento. Miranda- I know that your guy's heart is in the right place but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me do your Hardcore record buying for you! At LEAST let me make some suggestions, requests, ect. I've been begging Skills for years. I don't fancy myself as any sort of great DJ but I am a Hardcore Vinyl junkie and I could really help you build a rich library beyond the same stuff that you can buy at IMO. |

It's the truth. Maybe LA Hardcore is different but UK hardcore is mostly vinyl.

Man, things are progressing well, and you guys are helping in killer amounts. Big thanks for reminding me about Ron D Core's shop... I remember doing a lot of research on him after Sac Music Festival in 06, his was some of the first stuff that pulled me into hardcore/gabber. I'd love to start playing around with some midset transitions from UK/HHC to HC/Gabber, as I've always loved those.

Though I advocate vinyl...it sounds better and nothing can replace the visceral experience of touching a record. To say that Hardcore is mostly vinyl is simply not true. As a matter of fact I am now being forced to buy Scratch Mix Live because of the sheer volume great of digital only tracks that I have and want to use. Not to mention that there is a growing trend of Hardcore producers who are not releasing tracks on vinyl because of the cost / profit margin because they are not as big as, say, trance producers. That is not a trend I am happy about but such is the reality of things. |

I sure am talking about UK Hardcore! Of course I am also talking about, US, Canadian, Spanish, German, and Italian Hardcore as well. But I digress...The IMO, Juno, and NEC digital sites have HUGE libraries and growing exponentially, most of the new vinyl releases from the major UK labels get a digital release as well. There are a LOT of digital releases that don't get vinyl releases. Those sites to which I mentioned are also putting out their old stuff on digital release but not on vinyl meaning that very shortly their digital catalogs will be larger then their vinyl catalogs. The All-4-1 collective ALWAYS had more digital then vinyl due to old stock, digital exclusives (on CD's or the site), and the random digital tracks Luna-C used for his sets then released. Wizbit just digitized his entire back and current vinyl catalog. In fact KFA has repeatedly threatened to drop vinyl altogether and would have done so years ago if not from rigorous protest from people like me. So to imply that UK Hardcore is a vinyl exclusive genre, even to say mostly vinyl...is simply, and sadly not true. |
