20/f (contrary to popular belief i guess?) and the name's kyra (kai-rah) which is actually a pretty tricky name to explain when the people you're talking to are rolling bawlz so i hardly even bother giving out my name. just hugs.

the first time i heard edm and liked it was when i was about 10 and the first blade movie came out. i was OBSESSED with the song playing in the opening blood rave scene (it's called confusion i think?). this was either before napster existed or before my older bro told me about it so the only place i could hear it was on the homepage for newgrounds.com so my dabbling in electronica dropped off for a while.

i think around that time was the first time i heard about raves and ecstasy, too, because i was watching the news. they made it sound so scary and made it seem like it was for bad people with bad drug addictions and oh yeah, they called it a date rape drug

after my sophomore year of high school my two best friends and i reintroduced ourselves to the wonder of edm and spent an EPIC summer cruising around chicago in my mom's car (haha, i know we're so cool but some bitch had wrecked mine) blasting smurf and sesame street hhc remixes, the matrix soundtrack and basically lots of generic "techno". when i came to college i made friends with this one of the absolute coolest people you'll probably never meet and she took me and another girl to the lovefest parade but she went to the afterparty alone. i didn't know that it was a "rave" (massive, party, whatever you wanna call it) but i'm not sure if i would have paid $65 for something i wasn't sure about doing or really understood anyway).

a couple months later my friend had gotten comfortable talking about her drug and raving experiences with us and invited me and two other girls to ispin 1 in modesto. i wasn't really sure about it but after i got there i was soooooooooo happy i did it (besides nearly being raped in the basement by z, lol only half-kidding). i started raving every other weekend from january to may (when turtles attack, show your love, get lucky, spring fling, coachella, etc. etc.). afterwards i took two weeks off for finals then had a last hurrah with my girl before heading back to chicago. i took a break for the summer because 1) i thought my body deserved a break and 2) i had a fucking curfew of all things. yeah, i gave my parents hell for that one. i expected a big comeback in the fall but i had a HUUUUUUGE fight with my roommate/primary rave partner and only made it to the lovefest parade, the lovefest afterparty (where i ended up sitting for most of it with aforementioned rave partner because she had taken too many pills and fried herself before the party), a renegade, and monster massive. after xmas my roommate moved out and the girl who introduced me to raving moved in with one of her friends from high school and we had planned to road trip it to sin city 2 but like three weeks before the party she got arrested with a fair amount of molly while down in la.

so yeah, i've had shitty luck with raves in the past 8 months, lol. galactic funk was my first GOOD party in 4 months and it reminded me how much i missed it. so now i'm trying to hit as many as i can before study abroad next year (WHILE STAYING HEALTHY). so far the schedule is bnw (with a n00b!), pop (hopefully with one of my ex-roommates), and possibly one more. we'll see what comes up.

so yeah, that's pretty much my rave biography. i don't really know any of you on here but if you're a fan of stars and rainbows come up and kandi rape me. i love letting people pick out their own pieces. i'll even make you a special one if you ask. the pic below is me looking kinda down for some reason. i have no rave pics.



oh, and i seem to get this question a lot so just so you know: i don't like it when you play with my hair. i love it. so if the urge seizes you, just let it happen

btw, feel free to suggest any house/electro london/uk club spots or events i should check out next year. i've already decided on the ministry of sound and the red star, i just need to hope someone will go with me!
