you were nearing respectability with your recent posts until this. if you don't understand the logic in encouraging kids NOT to waste their lives, you're as good as fried.

I don't hate drugs, but I still think that people should be able to be responsible about using them. Some people are not responsible enough to be mucking around with their brains, some are. I'm not about to make the call on who is or is not responsible enough.
Do what you will, but know what you do. I used to do lots of stuff all the time because I could. That's a bad reason to do anything. Now, if I do anything, it is planned well in advance, obtained from a reliable source (read: chemist), and done with friends in a safe, comfortable, controlled environment. This happens maybe once or twice a year at the most. I am much happier with this arrangement and the experiences are much more cherished and memorable. I personally don't hate drugs, I just hate people who don't respect them or themselves enough to do a little research. Know your source, know your substance, know your environment, know your limits. These are the knows that lead to positive substance use. ::chichang:: .02 |

To each his/her own, but keep in mind that ravers try to look out for one another (ideally). Discouraging unsafe or irresponsible drug use is part of this for many. Also know that many probably see it as easier (and more effective) to simply say STOP, than to go into a lengthy explanation as to proper use and everything.
At the end of the day though, it is monumental that we each foster an attitude of responsibility and honesty with oneself, and others. If you think someone should slow down, let them know and don't be afraid to talk to the person. Raves of yore seem to have had more knowledge and intra personal care floating around than they do these these days. It is crucial that those with knowledge (not hearsay)and experience be stern where need be, so that we all might have a good time, and maybe have a chance at doing something greater than just partying with a bunch of strangers. And remember Shulgin's words well "There is no such thing as a casual psychedelic experience." /end Tirade |

of course, ultimately, people will do what they do... but it would be pitiful for them to make those decisions with no one in the crowd saying, "hey you don't have to go that route and wait til after it's too late to realize how much you're hurting yourself." whether or not anyone takes heed of the warning, that's up to them. dissing the voice of reason is an indicator of addiction. fyi

If only there was a single voice of reason though, eh?

hmm...well i guess the debate continues on here...well i agree with dreamcatcher i mean ideally ravers should watch out for one another...it doesn't necessarily mean telling others to stop or that their actions are wrong but making sure they are making informed decisions...ultimately its their decision.
and like plainsnymph said, be responsible for yourself and ur actions...it really sux to go out to a rave and then end up having to take care of someone who completely over did it... trust me its not fun having to take care of someone who is barely conscious...its actually kinda scary ...also if you know a raver who is pushing their limits with their drugs, why not let them know that maybe they should slow down? ...i think someone in another post said something to the extent of when ravers usually begin raving they push their limits using something just about every weekend until they realize that this is not smart...maybe its just a phase some of us go through... and honestly its very helpful to have other informed ravers let us know about our mistakes or how to make smarter decisions to have more positive outcomes. in conclusion....iono, everyone makes their own decisions, you can't control what others do, you are only responsible for yourself...and since we do live in America u have the freedom voice your opinion whatever that may be. |

Nancy, you really are a breath of fresh air.
I wouldn't have such a problem with these parties, and the kids out there, if they took the time to make informed decisions about their lives. Unfortunately all we get is; "UR A HATER" "I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT" "HATERADE!" "I WIN" "U LOSE" "PWNED!" It's a bunch of crap really. Personal respect and responsibility people. If you can't dictate in plain english your reasons for choosing to take drugs, and your knowledge of the repercussions, then you shouldn't be taking them. |
