! i used to hate raves, and talk all sorta shit about them; i even was in a youth fellowship group at my church that was against raves. i used to hepl volunteer calling parents in the church to warn them of the 'lookout' signs if they're kids went to raves. i did this from 9th grade till 12th grade, and even my first 2 yrs of college.. and the worst part was i never went to a rave, ever.. i only saw 'creed' once in concert. that was my only time out listening to music cause my parents are hardcore religiuos. thankfully i live with roomates now. now, i decided that i needed to go to one to judge for myslef! i WAS WRONG! it was NOT enything like i was taught. i think i was brainwashed!!!!! i really do!!! it's not drugs and sex. it's FREEDOM to be yourself!!!!! i'm sorry to everyone in the rave scene for being the way i was before!! to make it worse, i used to listen to mars + mystre mix tapes all the same time i was doing this for 'the church'.. if one good thing happened from all this, i opened my mind.. changed my thoughts about a lot of things, and learned that i'm not so into trance or house/house. i like music harder. i still haven't tried e yet, but i think i will try half at the next rave i go to.. (next month - skills dj hype 6.27.. i love drumNbass!) you no what i realized even now as i type this? church and the youthgroups ARE brainwashing!!! they wan't you to be all the same. tehy tell you lies and only use 'god will judge you' as the only excuse why everything is wrong. -a newly free'd person in the world..... ![]() ![]() Last edited by freund; 27.4.2008 at 5:42 am. awesome story!!! I used to be anti everything. I never really drank until college, but anyways.
Raves have a horrible stereotype. Drugs... A rave isnt about doing drugs (even though for some it is.) A rave is about expression, freedom, socialization, and music. We go to see friends, tons of friends. We meet people who you never thought you would be socializing with We avoid classifying people into categories. We are all one, who all love music! Glad you got into the scene, and enjoy it!! I was the same way, walked into a rave no knowing shit. Walked out a changed man. but seriously... I did change, for the better. Im happier, more talkative, and a nicer (plurier) person.Cant wait to meet you!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

i can't beileve i went for almost 8 yrs of hereing how bad 'raves' are, and praying (ugggg) for ravers to find god and quit.
thats why i said church is a cult even thought i used to be a protestant (like left wing religion; the DEMO's of religion).. what REALLY opened my mind that nite my friends GF and friends dragged my out (i don;'t know the name or location cause i never really knew about thosee things yet), was i was sober and everyone was happy to meet me. i met A TON of sober people. i thought everyone was on marajuana, or meth, or excstasy, or coke. i would say more sober than on drugs i met. the people that took me were sober too! they wanted to prove that you could go to raves and be sober (that was teh only reason i would go with them. and im' glad i did now). -freund Last edited by freund; 27.4.2008 at 6:30 am. I can totally sympathize with your story. I was raised hard core Catholic, went to private schooling from K-12, TOTALLY sheltered. I became a lot more openminded once I went to college and started meeting a variety of interesting people who weren't necessarily religious. Now I have all kinds of friends, and I'm more of a C&E Catholic (Christmas and Easter).
My first rave was Love Parade in 2005 and it blew my mind. I remember the days after my first rave vividly, and how I felt a side of me had woken up from a deep slumber. I'm so happy for you and I hope to see you at a rave! |

yeh! it was like waking up from a deep sleep and seeing everything for the first time all over again. it made me realize that everything is shades of colours. nothing is black/nothing is white... it's all shades of grey.
i can't wait to go out next! i'm already thinking of what we can do all day till we hit up the party! |
