Re: B&W Ball REVIEW!!!!

This rave was fucking awesome. It blows my mind that something like this was able to take place in Alameda. The bathroom cyphers were fucking ill. The venue was realllly nice and I felt really safe. I'm glad I was cool with one of the security gaurds so I could go get some gatorade. I wanna see some pics! & ADD ME ON MYSPACE! really fun party. John beaver, Mystre and Kristina Sky tore it up. Kinda lame i had to walk back to my car though from the venue. I was wearing all white with a white bandana white suspenders. Met a few cool new people and saw a bunch of familiar faces. Great night though and a sick party.

Didn't make it out in the end as the ride situation didn't work out.
Wanted to stop by early to say hi to Andrew but by the time I got my shit together their set was already over.
But my friends are moving away so they threw a going away party last night so at least I got to get out and have a good Friday night off work.

Really wish I had of made it out though.
Sounds like it was a lot of fun.

There was just the right amount of people to still have a lot of room to dance, the vibe was awsome. I felt bad for clean up because all of the floors got soaked and muddy.

First off, I could have walked to the venue and home because it was so close to me. It was really nice not having to drive around for an hour afterwards!
Kristina Sky's set was awesome, and I was surprised how much I enjoyed John Beaver's. DnB room was great and I wish I'd spent a little more time in there than I did. Also, I liked having plenty of room to dance again.
Great party guys, and thanks for putting it on.

That's cool living next to the venue... When I met up with my cousin for TTLG, and told him the address we were supposed to go to he was like, "WTF thats down the street from me. And you know grandma is even closer to this..." However, I hope I don't have to visit the CH too many more times.

I was finally able to get some food in me and therefore can now actually type something.

Production:

Pretty damn good. Not a lot I can complain about.

Only negatives: They were not organized in the very beginning, didn't have the pre-order list at the venue till 8 30 or so, lights in main room weren't off until then, and there should have been better lighting in the DnB room.

Those aren't bad at all though, and the lateness of set-up was due to a lift not arriving on time.

Positives of Production:

Lineup was great for both rooms.
John Beaver, Mystyre, and Kristiny Sky were my faves.
K-Sky opened up slowly and has a different style then most people up here are used to, but when she hits it hard, she hits it well!

" that just totally brought my roll back and so much higher!" that was what i overheard from some girl rolling during K-Sky's set. Welcome to SoCal Melodic/Hard trance

Lighting in the main room: I paid very close attention to this, because depending on how i wanna split my first event with another crew, I might do all the lighting.
so dont think I'm ragging on the lighting, just stating my view.

First off, they were a Visuals crew, so not your average lasers/rave lighting.
I personally thought that the spotlights and projectors were a waste, except for the smaller projectors on the side of the speakers.

They could have made much more use of the main room set up and placed multi colored lasers in the back corners, and two green lasers on each side.

Spotlights IMO do not add much to a trippy feel, and they just add light that weakens the projectors.

And I did not think that a total of 8 black lights overhead and two black light boxes at the front were needed. They could have put two strips on each side of the room near the front and one box in front, would have made same effect.

and only two small LED spotlights in DnB?

THAT being said, once the turquoise laser directly above the DJs went off, it ALL blended together REALLY well! That laser was extremely trippy and I am DEFINITELY buying it eventually.

And the spotlights that actually gave off shapes were good as well.

I'm still curious why they didn't make use of the cloth hanging in the middle of the air....

I thought they would've had laser projection like at LOVE...but guess not?

Like i said, I would have done it differently, but it was pretty damn good the way they did it in the end.

Hallway decorations were a good way to incorporate the theme while not wasting money and protecting the walls at the same time. Shame all the white lines got ripped though.

Awesome having the marker artist doing free body art at the front, even if it did rub off easily.
Kinda wish my body wasn't painted, otherwise i would have gotten a clover leaf done.

Other stuff not related to Production:

Why can't people keep bathroom floors dry?
Why can't they see that a drinking fountain is spilling on the ground and stop using it?

eh whatever.

Did anybody else feel like this was more of a high school dance then a rave?

I don't know if it was the venue, the people, the age of all the perople, or a combo of both...

Don't get me wrong, the people were very nice and the venue was good. I just felt some weird difference then before.

And I thought it was gonna be at a club...

Another note....nice to see so many god damn people spinning poi?

hahaha they should have all lined up and done one massive show.

Note to all: poi is about centering your body, chi, and meditating. keep that in mind.

I know it sounds like i'm bitching, but i really did have an awesome time.

Danced a lot, loved seeing so many familiar faces, loved meeting new people.
Always too many people to give shout outs, but yall know you're the reason i do this weekend after weekend.

Props to the Crew and the people who were there to have a good time.
A good party in my books.
