A poi Gathering in the City?

I've said this more than once in other threads, I'm not going. However, in the past week there's been a lot of people I really want to meet off RL. You've all been lettin me whore up the forum, and my last rave was TTLG...

Ah-ight I'm sold. I love poi and you RLers have grown on me. My roommates have moved out and I'm in a 3 bedroom house all by myself most of the time for about another month. My house has been afterparty-central on more than one occasion because I converted my garage into a hookah lounge... We can have a 2-3 room kandy making party and theres enough room in the backyard for some poi... the date of this event... well i'm kinda unsure, I wanted to meet Klover first, so I should be able to spot him at B&W from what I understand.

I would say it should be the day after POP, but I dunno if people would are actually gonna go to pop, go to separate after-parties (because after 2 in the morning I couldn't possibly have more than a dozen screaming people in my house), and then come to my house on sunday the 25th.... I dunno, would you guys wanna do this around sunrise after POP (realistically)?

ps, I can't promise names yet, but I will most likely be able to get a few local DJ favorites to play this (loud loud music shouldn't really be a problem if we start at about 10-10:30 in the morning).

Rules:

1. you would need to either meet me first, or at least talk to me on the phone (more details after B&W) Look for me at B&W either spinning rainbow/LED poi, chain-smoking (one thing or another) or dancing a plenty.

2. 18 and up, sorry, but i'm 25 and having kids around booze and illicit substances isn't gonna happen at my house....... OR 16 and up with a parent present (and no fake parents), I got no real problem with an open-minded mom or pop (but refer to rule #1)

That's it for now.... just testing the waters, I'll probably put a 25-30 person max on people from RL because 20 of my friends are bound to be here already. check back by sunday for more details.

oh yeah, we can also BBQ, that's a given. there'll no doubt be beer and punch and pie as well...

Is it possible or advisable to poi with inovas on strings? What if I add some sort of soft object to the end for more weight and momentum? Think it would look ok if I could even learn the moves?

I can teach you all of the 5 moves i know... one at a time though... every move you are trying to learn... take it one move at a time, then work on transitions from move to move....

Innovas are fragile and expensive (tape em up a lil if you use em and consider them not being on the end of your poi where the most gravity is: do these two things and they should last alright), if you are just starting out poi, you are going to hit them together a bunch, hit yourself (oh get used to hitting yourself for the first couple weeks of learning) so don't learn on something to heavy at first... two glowsticks (new or used whatever) it's a good weight. remember go slow, poi is foremost about finesse... work on stalls early on... it's kinda boring, but I wish I had worked on stalls when i was just starting out, stalls are the key to transitioning especially for the more advanced moves (which I can't do, haven't really tried).

tough to explain in words, i'd really just have to show ya.

i would love to go to a poitastic get together! but i'm 16 and dont have parents willing to go to pond scums things so... yeah. but i'm acctually semi-professional, and i mean to make poi my career and i'd love to teach some people some new moves!
