So why is it called an offical afterparty? Rather than say, a venue change? What will change other than location?

yes the after party is absolutely ALL AGES and FREE to anyone!

the reason we can't just call it a 'venue change' is kinda a biggie. you see the sound ordinances in Santa Cruz are very strict: no amplified sound past 10pm without permit and the latest permit goes to 1am. thats why production companies would rather throw parties in the city, rather then work through all the red-tape, and put out the extra energy to make it happen. and thats why this area gets neglected and the huge community of ravers here are forced to drive into the city every weekend.

so you see the difference between the after party, and Viva Pinata is that it will NOT be fully permitted. something of a renegade offered free to Viva Ravers as well as anyone else interested even if they couldn't score a ticket to Viva Pinata. the after party will start very late, in according with the Main Event.

the after party information will be given at the Main Event along with map-directions. the after party will be held near Viva Pinata so the car-a-van can be a short one!

I fully support this party and it's efforts. It's great to see parties continuing in Santa Cruz HOWEVER there is far more red tape involved in throwing something in Frisco than in Santa Cruz. yes they can go later, but the hoops you jump through to make it happen are a long line. Parties aren't thrown in Santa Cruz because people aren't willing to make the drive out there especially with gas prices so high these days. Sad but true.

Aha! Thats why i take the CalTrain over there. Its hella easy. I take it almost every other weekend to meet up my friends in UCSC.
This does overlap with EDC though....unfortunatly. Looks like fun.
If my budged doesnt increase within the week then i will call of my roadtrip to LA and hit this place up. Never been to a rave in SC....

I would love to go to this , but i think friday evening we're gonna be headed down to LA for EDC, so that we can do stuff saturday morning before the rave. dunno though, might try and make this, then that...gonna be tough tho
