I know it's totally lame that this is post-facto and you'll get upset with me because you'll wish you had gone.. but I must give at least a brief report of how sweet an experience it was. First off, the venue (934 Brannan St. -- off of 8th) was phenomenal. It's a huge warehouse, gallery type setup. There's one massive main room where they played a lot of psychedelic stuff and a smaller room with DnB. There's even an art exhibit maze to wander through, not to mention a huge outdoor area with lots of getaway spots and chill zones. Inside the dance rooms, trippy massive blacklight posters were hung all over. There was a chill room right next to the DnB with tons of pillows, seats, and space. The weight of the $25 presale ticket was decreased pretty significantly when i found out they spent $14k to put it on, probably making less than half back due to such weak attendance. A lot of great DJs were there, personal favorite was the Witch Doctor. He just had a crazy sourcerer vibe going on with the tables and the crowd. Definitely different from the typical rave I'm at. So, take my recommendation for next year if they throw it again... practically a once in the lifetime experience, mostly depending on what kinda level you're on in your own mind.
Side note: wacks lab on friday in milpitas was pretty sick for earwacks first party... i'm lookin' forward to what else they might be throwing in the near future. PLUR, baby.. PLUR!! |

I as well went to Tantra. I found it to be a good experience, however, there wasn't nearly the attendance I was expecting. There was actually two psychedelic trance rooms (no DnB sorry). Highko, Liam, Parus, Ocelot, and Witchdokta all played in the larger room. GREAT sound system, complete surround sound, brilliant backdrop visuals, and a good atmosphere. In the other smaller room, Mekkanikka, Helios, Chromatone, KJ, and Kode IV were tearing it up. I'd have to say that Mekkanikka had some of the best tunes of the night in my opinion. The other good thing imo about the smaller room was that it was packed a bit tighter and there was more energy. However, I wouldn't go as far to say that the event was UNREAL, but I would go as far as saying that they played great psychedelic trance, you didn't leave completely reeking of weed and smoke, and the air inside the venue remained cool and unsmokey.

Well, certainly every person is entitled to their own opinion (duh), i for one (and my friends that joined me as well) definitely had and unreal experience at Tantra on saturday night... Like I said, the art and visuals were stunning, and besides the initial cost of it, everything else was relatively cheap (bottled water and chai tea for only a buck!) We stayed there till it was about 9:30ish (Johann was busy dancing till there was no sound left and making himself look like a fool trying to talk auf deutsch with High-Ko and others)... If it wasn't unreal for ya, i'm sorry you didnt enjoy it as much as i did..... what times were you there from and 'til?
