Re: Glo2... any thoughts???
First and foremost, Floorbangrs and Phunk E Elements would like to thank all of the fans that came out to support our talent and latest production. Without our loyal fans, we would not be in existence.
In an effort to put an end to the rumor mill, Floorbangrs and Phunk E Elements would like to address some key concerns regarding Glo2 and the events that took place that night. We’ll start with the entrance to the venue, which has been a topic of complaint. In order to speed up the rate of entrance, we actually requested and received a total of five security guards to monitor and frisk those who entered. This was a sufficient amount of security concentrated in one area. As soon as tickets were received, partygoers moved down the line to security and were being frisked just as quickly as payment was being received. We would, however, like to point out that the majority of our security was provided by the venue, the Parc, and we were mandated to use the Parc security. We would also like to point out that longer wait times were due to safety precautions as a result of a few isolated incidents. We do apologize for any rude encounters you had with the Parc security or for prolonged wait times as a result of them taking a long time to frisk, but in the interest of safety, we appreciate their thoroughness.
Many have heard about the shooting that occurred and have linked that shooting to the event. We had the opportunity to speak with detectives who informed us that a young man was shot in the leg about a block and a half down the street. The detectives were taking precautionary measures by talking with us to determine if there was an affiliation with the event but ultimately concluded that the shooting was a coincidental event and had no connection to Glo2. The young man who was wounded by what was determined to be a gang related incident was taken to the Emergency room but there were no fatalities. Nobody died.
There was a negative incident that did occur within the doors of the event. Two females who got in an argument, resulted in the release of pepper spray. Unfortunately, even though security was thorough, one of the females snuck pepper spray into the event and used it as a weapon. We did locate the person responsible who was arrested, and the 3” bottle of pepper spray that was used. As many of you may have noticed, the radial spread of that small bottle caused breathing problems and for some, even vomiting. Because of the health hazard the pepper spray posed, and because the talent including Richard Vission and Atomic Babies’ breathing problems, and partygoers showing visible effects of inhalation, the owners took the initiative to close the doors two hours early. The promoters, Richard Vission, Atomic Babies did all they could to keep the doors from closing. We opened all doors to increase ventilation, offered a monetary stipend to the owners, and explored all possible alternatives to ending it. The owners had the final say as the Parc is their property and we were only renting it for the night. We work well the Denver police and they had nothing to do with the closure. The closure was a result of solely the Parc owner’s decision.
We were thoroughly disappointed in their decision and refusal to keep the party going. Even though the party closed two hours earlier than what we had planned for, we are pleased to announce that with the exception of Atomic Babies and local talent, all other dj’s were able to perform. Richard Vission was 15 minutes away from closing his hour and a half set when the announcement for the closure was made. For those who did not get to see Atomic Babies, we will be bringing them back for an event in the near future.
As promoters of Floorbangrs and Phunk E Elements, we signed contracts with all talent and were required to pay them regardless of if they played or not. All talent was paid for and losses were taken for this event. We realize that there is a certain degree of animosity because partygoers were not able to stay for the last two hours of the event. We value our fans and apologize for this inconvenience. As many of you may already know, Floorbangrs and Phunk E Elements does throw an annual free party complete with food, drinks, and music to show our appreciation to our loyal fan base. We invite you all to attend.
The pepper spray incident is a prime example of how one person can ruin the whole experience for everyone else. The scene is in a continual state of change and with the increase in diversity in our attendees, more and more people are coming to the events for the wrong reasons. They aren’t there for the music, dancing, and fun and are causing problems for those who are there for the right reasons. Floorbangrs and Phunk E Elements would like to take a moment to remind all partygoers that you make the scene what it is. The scene is our community and we need to take care of it and preserve it. If you witness inappropriate and dangerous behavior, please report it to security. We have a small ratio of staff when compared to all of our attendees and ask that everybody do their part to keep the scene going. Look out for one another so that the notion of free expression and togetherness encompassed in the scene will continue. Richard Vision has asked that we extend his appreciation to Colorado fans and says that incidents such as this happen all over the nation, not just in Colorado. He thanks everybody for their continued support and looks forward to his next visit. Along with Richard Vission, Floorbangrs and Phunk E Elements would also again like to thank you all.
