Am Sonntag dem 22.11.09 ab 19 Uhr gibt es wieder eine neue, erfrischende Ausgabe von Café Smart.
Das Thema der heutigen Sendung dreht sich um Dresden und die dortige Houseszene. Dazu haben wir uns 5 Protagonisten, alteingesessene wie jüngere, eingeladen und werden uns von ihnen unterhalten lassen und uns natürlich auch mit ihnen unterhalten ;-). Zu den Houseaktivisten dieser Sendung zählen Tiny, Spunky, Jakob Korn, Break SL und #npnk.
Jeder der Jungs hat eine ganz eigene, interessante Geschichte zu erzählen. Auch die Sounds der Jungs unterscheiden sich teilweise doch recht stark. Jedoch bringt sie eins immer wieder zusammen: HOUSE Music. Natürlich wird der Spirit dieser Gemeinschaft ein Thema sein. Ein anderes ist die Entwicklung der Houseszene in Dresden in den letzten Jahren. Wie behauptet sich die Szene in einem vom Techno und teilweise Hardtechno dominierten Umfeld... Es scheint eine sehr interessante und auch lange Sendung zu werden, denn jeder der Jungs möchte ein paar Platten spielen!

Hier nun noch einige Infos zu den Protagonisten:

Tiny

Tiny ist der dienstälteste regelmäßig auftretende House & Techno Dj Dresdens. Dieses Jahr erst wurde er bei banq.de zusammen mit Busenfreund Spunky zum beliebtesten Dj der Stadt gewählt. Daß er nicht nur daheim, sondern auch im größeren Rahmen punktet, belegen zahlreiche Gigs im In- und Ausland. Genannt seien Distillery, Robert-Johnson und Panoramabar, als auch Städte wie Moskau, Wien, Havanna, Turin und Chicago. Momentan kann man ihn monatlich in Dresdens Altem Wettbüro, der Koralle sowie dem Elefante Rosso in Venedig erleben. Bemerkenswert ist, daß er all dies nur mit dem Plattenauflegen erreicht hat, obwohl er sich seit einiger Zeit auch mit eigenen Produktionen beschäftigt. So kollaboriert er mit Künstlern wie Break SL oder Jacob Korn im Studio und wird auf dem demnächst auf Nation erscheinenden Longplayer von Traxx zu hören sein. Weitere Releases sind z.B. auf Kinda Soul Records in Planung. Man darf gespannt sein...




Break SL

Sebastian Lohse gave himself the beautiful Name Break SL. With a moniker like that, we can’t be sure if he’s a grafitti-writer, a breakdancer or a jungle-dj. But he’s nothing like that. He’s making House. House in a fashion that is not solely based on Loops.
After two successful 12? Release on the Philpot Label from Stuttgart, he just recently dropped his album on the same imprint. “City Wasteland” is a tale of the different aspects of his hometown, the city of Dresden, where new exciting architecture is co-existing with old unused spaces that were destroyed in World War II. It’s telling a story of beautiful, but also melancholic moments. The album was split into two seperate parts, each of them varying from Downbeat to House with lots of ingredients. Elements of Detroit, Breakbeats or dark Techno-Attitude is a playground for Break SL and his productions.

This is also showing in his Djing-Skills, as he combines history with contemporary productions, but never looses
the sight of the red ribbon, surprising the listener even more. Noone expects this from a guy in his early twenties.

It’s rare when the label of "rock star" is justified in dance music, and refreshing when that success is backed up the musical talent, drive, and sincerity that is possessed by Nick Terranova. His signature blend of catchy vocals, booming bass lines and genre-defying range are always in full effect on tour or at his "Dirty Sound" residencies at Late Night Empire in Las Vegas, Crobar Chicago, Lizard Lounge in Dallas, On Broadway in San Diego, Bleu in Detroit, and Bliss in San Antonio. The energy and sexiness that are hallmarks of Terranova’s live shows are also his trademarks as a producer and remixer - a dance music "triple threat." That dirty vocal track your girlfriend keeps singing in the shower? It’s a Nick Terranova production.

The Las Vegas native is best known as the man behind the MASSIVE hit Discoteka. The very first track released under his Starkillers alias lived at the top of the Billboard Dance and Beatport sales charts, named an "Essential Selection" on Pete Tong’s BBC1 radio show, nominated for best underground track at the IDMAs, and supported by almost every major DJ out there. But the track’s success simply encouraged the hard working producer to get his ass back into the studio.

Terranova has an impressive list of musical accomplishments: he runs the record label Terratraxx that he started in 2002, has produced a ton of original productions and done an equally impressive number of high profile remixes.
