Default Re: More HS are asking students to take drug test.

I have mixed feelings about it, but I am more on the part that it shouldn't be okay because what I did in my free time in school had no effect on my school work. I'm against it because a lot of kids experiment in high school, and not everyone fucks up and becomes a drug addict and gets into tons of trouble. For the kids that fuck up with drugs so bad that they screw their lives up, then them doing drugs and getting kicked out of school is going to fuck them over more. Hell, why would someone care if they get kicked out if they really don't care about school in the first place?

Instead of the "Just say no" education, we should be pushing the "Just say know" education. Know what the risks are, know what it does to you, know what to do if you have a problem or a friend has a problem, so basically, not be ignorant, know kids are going to do drugs, and help them understand what it can do to them. Scaring them out of school won't help, and it sure as hell won't help to scare them about drugs. Kids should know what the risks of meth are, they should know that you don't go driving on hallucinogens, make sure that they know about serotonin syndrome, instead of simply saying "Dont do drugs because we said so. They are bad. Don't do them." Education is a major major key when it comes to the "war on drugs."

Anyways, I would of still done drugs in high school even if I was tested. And despite using drugs, I was involved in Dancesafe, marching band, concert band, percussion ensemble, poetry readings, poetry club, did work for plays, JROTC, and community service events for JROTC. So, to say the least, I was very involved in school, still did drugs, still went to parties.... I didnt fuck up my life. And without my experiences with drugs I wouldn't be where I am now. So I don't regret it at all. And if I got caught in high school my parents should of dealt with it, not my school, as they have no business in my personal life unless its between the hours of 7:30 and 3 on school days, when I'm in school, and my after school activities. That's it. They had no jurisdiction outside of those times.
