The last time I went cameras were not allowed- but not searched for heavily and practically everyone had one.

If you check into the VIP tickets on ticketmaster ($300 each) one of the big selling points is that VIPs are allowed to bring cameras. I think you can assume regular-non-spendy types are not allowed to bring them, then.

My advice- only try it if you are willing to ditch the camera or walk back down the mountain to your car if they won't let it in.
