Ok so to clarify, Breaks have been around forever in some fashion or another. If its not a straight 4 on the floor beat, then its a break beat! It tends to be the tempo that distinguishes what genre it falls into. Like Hip Hop, Breaks, Jungle, Drum and Bass. The difference in Jungle and Drum n Bass is mostly the snare lines. Jungle has real slippery cascading snare lines. Drum n Bass doesnt. At least thats what I think about it...
