It's been a while since I've coded anything, but I have a fair knowledge of PHP, Perl, Python, and C++. I had actually started out in Visual Basic when I was a kid, and quickly changed my focus to C++, then from there I ended up picking up PHP and Perl.
I mainly used Perl and Python to write exploits (I used to audit, and was a member of an IPSec group).
I quit using 'nix when I lost my old box (I also had stopped coding around this time.) Nowadays, I only really surf the web, and I honestly don't need 'nix to do that. I suppose I
could go get a distro, but if I'm not going to be taking advantage of it, I don't see the use.
