lr;dr: facts about LEO from LEO source (not me), shut the fuck up noobs who are crying about the busts.
it's been said many times
i've said it many times
i'll say it again
skills and the police would never get the permission to shut down an entire power grid or 2 for a tiny drug bust. Cops "make" more money from busting single houses.
People can vouch that I'm not a narc, but I have been inside LEO before...my cousin used to be Oakland PD. SWAT Teams and other specialized teams and especially cops/the general agency really don't give a fuck about small time dealers. They like to go for the big time dealers. Especially on the street, a lot of people who get busted just become narcs/informants and don't get prosecuted. they want to climb the ladder to the big guy. Spending resources on things that get headlines like "oakland drug lord busted, $2 million in cocaine recovered" is good. They get more funding for that. They also get funding I'm sure from things like "58 busted at local rave".
But honestly guys, it's daly city, and it's a massive, what did you expect? That there would be NO COPS? ITS DALY CITY, NOT OAKLAND. I am not saying there would be no cops if it were held in oakland, but on a general level, cities that have worse crime have less funding as a whole (hence why there is worse crime...oakland being one of those cities...terrible area, terrible funding, terrible turnover to other agencies), and tend to focus their funding and officers on things like patrol, BIG drug busts, real work.
Of all the concerts I've been to in OAKLAND, (EDM and otherwise), most officers have been uniformed, and posted/patrolling one area, and posted as SECURITY. They break up fights, mainly.
In daly city, however, where this is absolutely no crime (ok, not really. But honestly, I'd rather walk through the most dangerous part of daly city at the most dangerous part of the night than through east oakland in broad daylight..) they don't really have shit to do, so obviously, consider the city, consider the venue.
Furthermore, it costs money to send people from different agencies up to bust a rave. I think i read somewhere there were like 50 (maybe it was 100..ill go with 50 so it doesn't sound like im bullshitting) different agencies' agents/officers there? Do you even realize that none of them MAKE any money from that? When you work special events, you MIGHT get a special bonus. It's not much, though. however, you get to watch whatever you're working for free, from a pretty good view (depending on where you're assigned), and hey, you're not getting shot at.
My point is, though is that police agencies don't have money to THROW at promotors like skills to say "HAY GAIZ WE R GONNA BUST UR RAVERS MMMKAY?". So whoever said skills took money from police (I saw it a few times reading through these 9 pages of mentally retarded garbage), suck on whoever's dick is in your general vicinity.
I don't know what the point of most of this was, but I'm trying to offer a view (biased from our side I guess), from the LEO side of things. Maybe if you idiots (those of you who ARE posting things such as

SCAM SKILLS TOOK TEH MONIES,

BUST THEY SHUT OFF THE LIGHTS ON PURPOSE, etc) know some facts you'll shut the fuck up.
Also, I saw the mobile taccom unit before the show even started. They set it up off-site, and brought it to the venue later. These things are generally necessary.
Radios use certain frequencies (cop radios) and especially the handheld ones are limited. the in-car radios have more frequencies to choose from...the handheld ones EASILY are taken up by cops chattering on them. when someone's talking on one channel, you can't talk, and you have to find a clear one to talk to whoever's running the show. the taccom unit both boosts reception (as it's right outside the venue, as opposed to wherever the radio tower is...in daly city I'd guess they might use the SF radio tower..but I don't know for sure where it is) and provides extra channels...it sort of duplicates all the channels that the patrol cars use, and clears them for the undercovers/uniforms inside to use.
[/rant], if this didn't make sense, I don't care. Just trying to enlighten a little about how the police REALLY work, and how absolutely ridiculous it would be for skills to have been "paid off" or deliberately set the lights off.
