I think both EDC and Ultra are fuckin awesome and i wish i could attend both, every single year.
but in terms of production vs. cost?
i'd rather camp outdoors for 3 days and see 300+ DJs in that many genres with the lights and culture that MEMF has to offer for such a cheap price.
this is without
location or people attending factored in.
I rave is both SoCal and Norcal...and i'm friends with a lot of crew out here...i'm starting my own crew next school year as well.
I'm not dumb....i just have a different view then a lot of people.
while i love to see big names, if the overall production is great and the talent is worthwhile, then i'm there. it shouldn't be all about the names, we shouldn't favor something if we don't know what we're going against.
so 300+ names that might not be as world renowned as EDC? psh. i went to How Weird Street Faire in SF the other week and it had 9 stages of music everything from psytrance to ghettohouse to a live PA for electro house and one stage with 5 girls singing to melodic electronic. better than any rave i've ever gone to with the culture there...yet the people i went with only knew 2 or 3 of ALL the DJs.
a name is a name. but a SOUND is a SOUND, a BEAT a BEAT, and a good time just depends on how open you are to the fun being brought.
geee...sorry for supporting your scene?

most people i know would not want to take that risk...or even just admit that fact on a forum.
its the difference between seeing it as a musical world vs. a rave world.
woodstock(when it was prime) vs. coachella?
they each have their purpose.
