In all the dance circles i've seen, it's never been about 1-up'ing the other guy. It's always been about sharing moves. I love to get alongside someone who's tearing it up on the floor, and just watch what he's doing. I'll try and learn what they do, then try duplicating it next to them. 99% of the time they'll give me a pointer here and there, and then cheer me on and I just learned a new step. I too don't like it being all about one style, so I like to throw everything I know into it and just bust out with very unique dance....it's just all jumbled together i guess?

As for showing off, me and most of the people i know like to go to the back corners away from everyone and throw it down. It just happens people like to see what we're doing, and before you know it there's a crowd. It's always been in good fun.
