This question has endless answers. I own a production company (Tri-Atom) with some friends of mine. All of us have a day job. A lot of heart and soul goes into this. We all sacrifice our personal lives in order to make parties happen. You have to get a crew together than works well with the least amount of drama possible ( and there will always be crew drama), find venues, make flyers, find talent, network with other promoters, get DJ's under your crew, make decorations. get lighting together, promote promote promote!, keep up a myspace, and keep a cool head because things get stressful! I don't think that any one fully understands the ammount of work and heart needed to pull parties off until they are on a crew. Some times on high stress days you wonder why you are doing this, but once your party is over and you know you gave people a safe and awesome time you remember why you throw them!
