Default Re: Need help planning a rave...

I'm trying to organize a party in my area as well, which is not a big city. Here are some random things I have learned so far,

Worry about getting the DJs last. Thats the easiest thing.

Make sure there are people with amps, lighting, and equipment close by that will bring it to the party, or find somewhere close to rent it. It can be simple like getting people together that have black lights and bass amps.

Look into a generator, so you can have the party anywhere, or outside.

Have people chip in for the venue cost.

How to get a empty warehouse or building: 1. Find a place that is 'For Lease' but looks like no one is going to rent it for awhile. 2. Call up owner or real estate agant and ask them if they can rent it out for one night, for a "Private Party." (Try to pitch it to them, becuase they could make a months rent it one night.) 3. Be sure and tell them you will "Pay Extra for Insurance." Building and warehouse owners wont have the liabilty of a party on thier property without insurance. Figure $800 to rent the building and another $400 for insurance. Depending on the size of the building of course. And make sure there is no alchohol or you will have to get permits.

Start small and charge small.

The main thing for organizing a rave in a conservitive area is making sure everything seems really positive about what you are doing, and just an alternative to things to do in your area.

Peace...
