There's something going on in Knoxville on Aug 3rd @ On the Rocks (on Demonbreun St.). It starts at 9pm. It's featuring Dj Flye, whom I've yet to hear, so I can't really tell you how good the music will be. The admission is free, though.
The scene in Mid TN is almost nil. A couple of weeks ago, there was something at the Old Nashville Ballroom that was alright. I think your best bet is to keep looking on websites like
