this is retarded. so i guess it merits a long-winded advice response from someone that cares...
like i was telling dustin, you guys are just expecting too much out of an internet site. anytime a board gets overcrowded, the general population presumes seniority and time involved is an indication of status. to that, i say "
thinking a little too much are we?"
everyone's gotta realize that just by being involved in the scene at all, we're automatically the unique and open-minded demographic of our society. it doesn't matter HOW much so on either account; so likewise with seniority on the boards or going to parties, or whatever. newbs feel automatically isolated because we're so full of praise for the people we're familiar with, we SEEM to be less welcoming to who we were ourselves just five minutes prior. (:gasp: even RL is not exempt from real human emotion like jealousy and desire to fit in with a group.) that's not how it should be but its just how it goes.. we're all proud to have separately arrived at the same obscure joy and its natural of us to make somewhat of a competition out of it... even when we're supposed to be accepting of anyone whether they fit in anywhere else or not...
we all need to take less weight in who people are friends with.. if a better friendship's established with someone known longer, no need to feel jealous or out of place.. just understand it. nobody's trying to isolate anyone else.. it's your own fault for caring too much about status to just be yourself and cool down. don't rush to prove yourself.. thats the x-factor that comes across over time. if you think someone's favored, they could be doin something right.. and to tell you the truth.. i dont think any of the people that post here regularly have been involved JUST in the san francisco scene for very long. so we basically havent seen how this one evolves for long enough to guage at what level we want to be involved. this is why you're always hearing people talk about taking breaks.. it's not even worth the argument.. hahah .. leave the jaded elitism to bayraves.. and stop coming to post here while youre coming down from the weekend and emotionally on edge... leave high school mentality bickering in high school!
also, keep your posts concise and dont ramble like i just did... I MEAN WELL.
