Pulled this off my myspace, think it's pretty well worded.

Well it all depends on how you view it. See way back in the day right, there were these people called greeks, they thought alot about things and for almost everything they couldn't explain they made up a god for it, take Apollo god of the sun for example, they couldn't explain why the sun would rise and set each day.

So apply that to modern day, we know that the sun rises and sets because the earth is spinning on it's axis in space. Therefore: we do not have the god Apollo anymore.

Well what can't we explain with modern science? I'm thinking the most universal questions that we can't explain with science would be; where we came from, who put us here, why we are here, and where we go after we die.

What do modern day relgion's gods all have in common now? They are all the higher power that gives humans some tangible and comprehendible idea for those qeustions.

I personally don't believe in god, I think it helps certain people, say my parents they have a desperate need to belong and they need hope that there is something better after this life, (which is sad really, if only they could look past the trivial things in life and be happy), anyway my point is that certain people need religion to keep sane in our modern day, choatic, senseless world.

However I found something greater than god for myself.

I have lain awake many nights, and wandered aimlessly thinking about: what am I here for, what is the ultimate goal?

Well I have come to the conclusion that for me, it is Happiness.

You see what do we have in this life? We have plenty of problems that need to be overcome, challenges that need to be conquered, and so on and so forth. Therefore, why make it harder on myself? I have decided to find beauty and happiness in whatever I endeavor, and I try to spread the happiness I so longingly seek with all I come in contact with. My hope is that one day everyone will see why it is so important to keep a positive outlook, and pick and choose what is worth being worried or upset about, too many time's I would fight with people about trivial, really, meaningless things.

Anyway i'm just ranting now. But anyone who reads this, (this may sound corny), put a smile on and try to share it.

And in a sense, that is what god is to me.
